PRIVATIZATION AGENCY OF KOSOVO
A joint inter-institutional meeting was organized in PAK by receiving German delegation in the field of
mineral resources and with special emphasis in support of Trepça Enterprise
Prishtina – Privatization Agency of Kosovo, received in a meeting today representatives of Federal
Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, with the presence of German Ambassador in Prishtina, Mrs.
Angelika Viets, and representatives and experts of German organization GIZ in Kosovo.
The reception was characterized by high institutional coordination of key stakeholders in mineral field. In the
reception of German Delegation organized by PAK participated representatives of relevant institutions of
Kosovo in this field, respectively: MED headed by the Deputy Minister Mrs. Besa Zogaj – Gashi and the
Director of Mines Department of this Ministry, Board and the Management of Independent Committee for
Mines and Minerals (ICMM), Representatives of Geologists’ Association of Kosovo, Director of
Environmental Department within the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning, and “Trepça”
Management.
The meeting was held in the course of cooperation with Germany, which through the experts of certain
fields has offered and offers support to PAK and other relevant institutions in Kosovo in mineral resources
field, with special emphases in support of Trepça Enterprise.
All participants had the opportunity and presented the cooperation possibilities in certain fields, and
especially in valorization and the treatment of mineral reserves which Republic of Kosovo poses. Besides the
presentation of reserves potential and other mineral potentials of Kosovo, in meeting were given
explanations on flexible and liberal legislation which is applied in mineral field.
Important information was exchanged besides presentations and discussions in the meeting between the
parties which are motivating for concretization of the cooperation between Kosovo and Germany.
PAK as host of this meeting, through acting deputy managing director Mr. Avni Jashari, informed participants
with regards to role and PAK responsibilities as Administrator of Trepça Enterprise, and general information
regarding the process of privatization in Kosovo with special emphases in mineral sector and for provision of
raw materials. Mr. Jashari expressed his appreciation and gratitude to Representatives of German
Delegation and public institutions of Kosovo, for supporting Privatization Agency of Kosovo in exercising its
mandate.
Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Ms. Besa Zogaj – Gashi, greeted the meeting and all participants
of mineral sector in Kosovo, Deputy Minister appreciated the support of German Embassy and GIZ in
economic development of Kosovo by hoping in deepening and concretization of further cooperation with
the representatives of German Federal Ministry of Economics.
Deputy Minister expressed her gratitude for the visit and the readiness to support the projects which
present mutual interest.
The Ambassador Viets in the end of the meeting considered the organization of the meeting at the
appropriate level by thanking all present parties for their contribution in this meeting, by expressing the
readiness to give the necessary support for the realization of expressed ideas here for a concrete
cooperation which should result in new investments and new working places in a near future.
At the end of the meeting, inter-institutional group came up with some conclusions among which:
• Legal infrastructure shall be arranged and ownership issues shall be defined well for implementation of
projects which have high potential for success.
• German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy after receiving many information shall analyze
them, and probably shall identify some points with common interest and regarding these next points
shall be discussed together with Kosovan party in Berlin.
• The possibility of support with training and education for the needs of mineral sector shall be reviewed,
especially the training of evaluation experts of mineral reserves according to internationally recognized
standards.
