We are excited and pleased to host The Stampede here in our community. This public art exhibit provides visitors and residents a delightful opportunity to enjoy these colorful works of art as they graze along our roadsides, by our storefronts, and within some of our many places of interest. Each of the 68 life-size oxen has been creatively decorated by local and regional artists and we are proud to celebrate the talents in our midst! A true community effort has brought The Stampede to fruition, and we suggest you take time to learn more about the artists and sponsors at www.hvartscouncil.org. THANKs TO OUR FOUNDING Sponsors Betty Wold Johnson Hopewell Valley is a place which offers great history, recreational opportunities, interesting shops and antique stores, charm and natural beauty, and fabulous farm markets and restaurants that exhibit the bounty of the Garden State; we hope you take some time to learn about and visit what we have to offer. We are pleased that the Hopewell Valley Arts Council is working to bring the arts to a new level of attention in our community. The Stampede has the potential to raise significant financial and community support through the sale of the oxen. Proceeds will help the new Hopewell Valley Arts Council bring a greater presence of the arts to Hopewell Valley. We hope you enjoy this unique, inspiring and generous partnership among artists, residents and the local business community as we join the Arts Council in celebrating art in the everyday. You too can have an Ox! And help to support art in the everyday... Some Hopewell Valley Stampede sponsors have paid to keep their oxen grazing in locations throughout the valley, but 45 of these spectacular works of art will be available at auction to help raise funds for future programs and initiatives of the Hopewell Valley Arts Council. Online Auction: Starting September 19, thirty five oxen will be available for purchase through our website (www.hvstampede.org.) To participate, just click on the button that will be exhibited on the webpage with each ox. You will be alerted by email when you have been outbid, so you can stay in the running for your favorite. The online auction will end at 3:00pm on October 19. We wish you luck! Live Auction: The remaining ten oxen will be reserved for the excitement of a live auction at the ‘Ox’tion Gala, to be held at the Grounds for Sculpture on January 24, 2015. If you are interested in attending the gala, or learning how you can bid remotely on these oxen, be sure to visit www.hvartscouncil.org/get-involved/ to sign up for our mailing list. We are grateful for your support of the Hopewell Valley Arts Council and our mission of promoting art in the everyday, and can’t wait to see where these beautiful creatures end up, bringing joy and inspiration for years to come!
