Community Outreach Education Official Sponsors Board of Directors/Advisory Board 2 Message from the President 2011-12 was a fiscal year of expanded partnerships. for the Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival (LAWTF). We returned to the Electric Lodge for the 3rd year as we celebrated our 19th Annual Festival, “Shine!” Many returning celebrities and some new to us joined us for our successful 4-day, 6-program Festival that also honored four deserving women in theatre. We partnered with our official sponsors and government grantors. Our outreach efforts included a partnership with the South Central LA residential program, A New Way of Life. Our teaching artists wrapped their creative arms around newly released women from prison in this CNN Heroes-recognized residential re-entry program, We offered both our 12 week “Stir It Up: From the Inside Out” acting workshop and our 12week writing workshop “Tapping Gold..Discovering the Extraordinary Story of You.” We also partnered with the Actor’s Equity Association and West LA College to produce “A Woman’s Way: Crafting a Career,” which inspired and empowered college students, as well as professionals. We again partnered with the West Hollywood Book Fair presenting a line-up of our sampling of diverse performers that included actors, dancers and spoken word artists with over 50,000 attendees. We also partnered with the North Hollywood Public Library for the citywide free “Make Music LA” celebration that included award winning Florence LaRue of “The 5th Dimension”. Finally, we established our alumni arm and held an Alumni Reception where former Board members, donors, performers, awardees and volunteers all came together to reignite their commitment and involvement with LAWTF. Our many outreach efforts have strengthened our support base, enriched the residents of the greater Los Angeles community, and expanded our reach as a non-profit arts organization as we gear up for our 20th Anniversary in March, 2013. Adilah Barnes, Co-Founder/President 3 Mission Statement “The Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival (LAWTF) empowers women artists to engage and inspire communities through the production of multidisciplinary solo performances and educational outreach. AEA is the national labor union that represents 49,000 professional stage actors and stage managers. LAWTF offered workshops to women a part of the program A New Way of Life. These two workshops activated the imagination and self-expression of these fragile yet strong women, and offered them opportunities to continue healing from years of abuse, incarceration and self-doubt. The personal growth in the participants was extraordinary. 9 2012 Official Sponsors 2012 Government Grantors Past Supporters Adilah Barnes Productions Amgen Foundation Matching Gift Donation Artpeace Gallery Bank of America Barnsdall Gallery Theatre Breath Asure California Arts Council City National Bank City of Culver City City of Los Angeles Department of -Cultural Affairs City of West Hollywood CNE Network Cottrell Foundation CRN Talk Radio Daily News Flintridge Foundation Gail R Moore Hauslights Highways Performance Space KDAY 93.5 Los Angeles City Council Los Angeles County Arts -Commission Madrid Theatre McDonald’s NBC Ora Troxler Southern California Gas Company Southwest Airlines Time Warner Cable Trust for Mutual Understanding Union Bank US Bank William Grant Still Arts Center Women of San Gabriel 10 Hattie Winston -Wheeler Tanna Frederick Anonymous Thom and Elaine Branch L.
