ROBERTS'
MONTHLY MESSAGE
Welcome February, so glad you have arrived! As I am writing this, we are nearing the end of
January (the month of the year that I would normally like to skip); I look back at all the great
things I have experienced or witnessed and am glad that I didn't skip this month! I was able to
attend the Right to Life March in Washington, DC on January 22nd. My youngest daughter
Holli and a group of 80 other students and parents from Jerseyville attended this event with
several hundred thousand Pro Life supporters, it was a humbling experience. It is important
that we as individuals stand up for what we believe and support those who need our support. I
am proud to say we did just that!
As I thought about our community while in DC and throughout the month of January, I have
witnessed a great example of where we have supported those who need our support! Businesses and individuals have
come together to lift up a family when they have needed us the most. The Wade family is very thankful that God placed
them in Jersey County and we will continue to be there for them – Go Team Jonny!
As I look at our business community over the last few months, there have been many activities that assure 2015 will
be a great year! The TriCountry FS, Inc. Fuel and Tire Station has been operating at their new and improved location;
Applied Engineering Plastics, Inc. is very busy in their renovated facility in the Industrial Park; The Stadium has been
operating with the expansion of their 3rd theatre; Ciudad del Sol is busy serving customers; Paragon Pipecoverers,
Inc. continues renovations at their new location on State Street in the former Bray Drug Store building; Jersey County
Motors announced their sale to Marty Cancila of St. Louis; Jersey Community Hospital opened its Orthopedic Center;
Outrageous Outdoors is experiencing a good business and Jerseyville Estates is on target for their estimated $3
million expansion. Other new businesses include Reopening of the 518; Sweet Life Salon & Spa; New Building for
Farm Credit Illinois; Roberts Law; State Street Bar & Grill and the re-modeling of the Shop & Save. We see a lot of
exciting activities! Here’s to continued success for all of our local businesses in 2015!

The JCBA is grateful for the close working relationship we enjoy with both the City of
Jerseyville and The Jersey County Board. Without this cooperation, the TIF and the
coordination by the City, some of the projects named would not have been completed. The
utilization of a team approach brings success. The team, with Jeff Soer, Special Projects
Director for the City, Mayor Perdun and the City Council, Attorney Bill Strang and our
own CEO Mary Heitzig has proven to be very effective.
Please mark your calendars and plan to attend the JCBA Annual Dinner on Thursday,
March 26th. We are very fortunate to be hosted this year by Aeries Terrace in Grafton.
I hear the Terrace is a great addition to their business, and I look forward to seeing and
hearing about its success.
We are always looking for member participation in our various committees. If you have
time and would like to get more involved, please talk with Mary or Carrie.
I hope our mild winter continues, and spring arrives early!

JCBA Director’s Report
by Mary Heitzig, CEO
First of a new year and all sorts of projects to handle!
Preparations are underway for planning our Annual Meeting to be held on March 26 at the beautiful new Aeries
Terrace in Grafton. Reserve the date now and watch for your invitation. Without giving away much detail, we
promise a somewhat different format and lots of enjoyment.
With the new Governor now in office, we are awaiting various changes which will have an effect on some of our
goals and objectives. Primarily we are anxious to see what changes take place in the structure of IDOT. I’ve met
with Don Miller to discuss some of the history of the Corridor 67 organization. We are committed to get the
balance of this project for Jersey County and Greene County back on the five year plan. I’ve learned also that
in the 25 years of the Corridor 67 organization, there apparently has not been a lot of interest and cooperation
by some of the community leaders. This may very well be one of the reasons our portion of the project has been
removed from the 5 year plan.
Reportedly the Federal Highway Trust Fund is overdrawn by at least a billion dollars. And we all know of the
tremendous amount of diversion which has taken place out of the IDOT funds. With the financial condition of
our state, and the Governor calling for cuts in spending, some might say “just as well forget it.” I’m not cut
from that mold so unless told otherwise, I plan on trying to rally the troops and lean on our legislators and other
Government Officials to help get us back on the 5 year plan. Without being included in the planning, we certainly
do not have any hope for the future of the project.

One project we are dealing with is the gathering of demographic data to be used in marketing for the retail industry.
We have a tremendous amount of retail leakage out of our area however we have to have the most current data and
reliable source to sell our area for retail development. I’ve hosted two developers from the St. Louis County area
who have expressed some interest. We’ll see what happens.
In the meantime, Jeff Soer and the City has issued the building permit for the new CVS. We’ll be watching for
activity at that location soon.
Looking forward to seeing you at the Annual Meeting!
Mary
As you may have noticed, for 2015 we will be highlighting a Business of the Quarter instead of
a Business of the Month. In an effort to promote the honored business, they will be featured in
each of the three newsletters during that quarter. TriCounty FS, Inc. is the first Business of
the Quarter for 2015.

TriCounty FS - Fast Stop Express is
now completely moved to their new site
at the corner of June Street and County

Semi-trucks can pull into a heated shop
- get their work done and exit out the back door. The new location is accessible and
convenient. We want to thank the community for their support of this new location. Please
stop in and check it out - we think you will like what you see!
During the winter months - TriCounty FS
