Chairman of founding PAC steering committee - 1949 Fellow PAC Members, Chers membres de l’Association de l’emballage, In 1949, a group of like-minded people assembled to discuss the formation of a packaging association. In 1950, the Packaging Association of Canada (PAC) was formally organized. As you can imagine, since that post-war initiative, the Association has evolved quite significantly. In 2010, the Association was re-branded as PAC – The Packaging Association. This reflects that today many of our members are in pursuit of North American and even global markets. To complement their needs, PAC has aligned its positioning and services to support this broader market scope. Fifteen founding member companies have stood the test of time and remained PAC leaders over the subsequent years in spite of changes in personnel, company ownership/ structure, government legislation and economic challenges. In celebration of our 60th anniversary the Board of Directors wishes to recognize these original founding members. When we consider that the theme of our conference is sustainability in packaging, it is fitting that we celebrate the commitment of these founding members to the sustainability of PAC. On behalf of PAC, we extend a thank you to them for helping to ensure the long-term viability of our Association and through it, the collective success of our packaging industry. Our founding fathers would be proud of PAC today and proud that these fifteen members have remained steadfast in their support and standing as industry leaders. Canadian Packaging 1947Canadian Packaging was established by MacLean-Hunter Publishing Co. 1994Rogers Communications acquired MacLean-Hunter Limited. 2010Canadian Packaging Magazine continues to be published monthly by Rogers Publishing Limited, and is a source of information for the latest trends in packaging.
