Passes and coupons provided for you with funds raised by the Friends of the Lakeville Public Library Spring has finally arrived at the Library! A Note from the Trustees about the Grounds Last year, the Trustees took a hard look at the grounds and began to make plans for some garden area changes. A Spring Clean-up Day was held on Saturday, April 18th, 2015. Bushes were pruned, brush cut in several areas including the roses along Sampson Cemetery’s fence and overgrown shrubbery at the front of the building was removed. We’ve allowed the back gardens to go natural which have blended them in with the National Wildlife Habitat. This year, we are continuing with plans to make gardening at the Library a manageable project as we enter into the 11th year of the gardens. To date, this year's most noticeable changes occurred on Friday, April 15th, 2016. Mockingbird Hill's crew of landscapers gave us a jumpstart with an overhaul of the parking lot island. This had been a problem area for a number of years. As a result, the daylilies were concentrated in the three point areas and all other material was removed and relocated and the site was graded. Weed control will be in place until either grass or mulch is used on the area in the fall. We are hoping that this change will be easier to maintain and improve safety and sightlines in a busy area.
