Politically Speaking
Are we there yet? No, we still have quite a way to go! It takes 1,144
delegates to claim the presidential nomination. Otherwise, a brokered
convention may occur. A brokered convention happens when there are
not enough delegates won during the presidential primary and caucus
elections for a single candidate to have a pre-existing majority during the
first official vote for a political party's presidential candidate at its
nominating convention.
Once the first ballot has occurred, and no candidate has a majority of the
delegates` votes, the convention is then considered brokered; the
nomination is decided through a process of alternating political
horse-trading and additional re-votes. Thanks, WIKIPEDIA.
Mitt Romney is currently the candidate with the most delegates. As of
March 28th, he had 568 delegates. He needs 576 more to clinch the
majority, 482 for a plurality, and 388 to block others from reaching a
majority.
Mitt Romney has an interesting background. We know that his father was
George W. Romney, a self-made business man and Michigan governor.
Mitt is described as something of a paradox, a wealthy man with
THRIFTY HABITS! Also, modesty was a desired trait---a trait to be
admired. Tagg Romney, the Romney`s son, says, "There is not much that
bothers his father more than wasting money."
If elected, Mitt pledges to rein in spending and reduce the federal debt.
However, one problem that I have with Mitt is that he just doesn`t speak
Southern very well. His "y`all" sounds so, well UNSOUTHERN. I bet
that is why Mitt received a celebrity endorsement from Jeff Foxworthy, of
"you might be a redneck" fame. Paula Deen and I could also help Mitt
with his Southern and his "cheesy grits.” I am enclosing my recipe for
cheese grits in this newsletter today. Mitt-- Paula and I are ready to help!
On a more serious note, Rep. Paul Ryan (R., Wis.) endorsed Mitt Romney
and the Supreme Court has begun looking at The Affordable Healthcare
Act (ObamaCare). I understand that each justice will have four law clerks
to help study the cases, and there should be a ruling in late June. There is
so much at stake here, and so many important issues before us.
Hopefully, our Constitution will be respected and prevail.
Next month, we`ll talk about Rick Santorum.

Ander Crenshaw
Ander Crenshaw represents Florida’s Fourth Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Currently in his sixth term representing a district that stretches from Jacksonville to Tallahassee, Crenshaw is a
member of the prestigious House Appropriations Committee where he recently was appointed to the Defense
Subcommittee. He also serves on the Homeland Security Subcommittee and Chairs the Legislative Branch
Subcommittee.
In his short tenure in Washington, Crenshaw has established himself as a leader on defense issues and a
champion for our men and women in uniform. He has been responsible for securing billions of dollars in
defense projects for Northeast Florida. Additionally, Representative Crenshaw was instrumental in helping
increase the scope and importance of Naval Station Mayport and Naval Air Station Jacksonville through the
BRAC process, bringing thousands of new jobs to Jacksonville. He was instrumental in securing the
permanent command at Blount Island for the USMC’s crucial logistics operations. He continues to fight to
bring a nuclear carrier to Mayport while simultaneously working with the Navy to home port an Amphibious
Ready Group at Mayport and making Mayport the home of the East Coast LCS ships. Congressman Crenshaw
worked hard to bring a Veterans’ cemetery to Northeast Florida and to fund the much needed addition to the
hospital at NAS Jacksonville. Together with the Navy, he hosts a ceremony for veterans each year and this
year will recognize all those who served during Desert Storm and Desert Shield.
When not in Washington working for the people of the Fourth District, Crenshaw resides in Jacksonville with
his wife of 40 years, Kitty. They have two daughters and two granddaughters.

CHEESE GRITS
1 cup Jim Dandy quick grits
4 cups water
1/4 pound of margarine
1 pound sharp cheddar cheese
½ teaspoon salt
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup milk
Cook grits according to package directions.
As grits begin to thicken, add milk and eggs (blended) and stir constantly.
Add desired amount of cheese
(I enjoy reduced fat sharp cheddar, and occasionally
Sargento pepper jack).
Remember to use low heat.
*I use only one egg and half the amount of butter or margarine called for.
