Summer Camps for Preschool - 8th Grade Students
Welcome to Summer at
Rivermont Collegiate
Summer at Rivermont is a fantastic opportunity to explore new interests, open new doors, meet new
challenges, and make new friends! Join us for 1 class or register for the entire summer.
Scheduling
Rivermont offers a large selection of summer courses that run from June 15 through July 31.
With morning, afternoon, and full day selections, campers can devote as much time as they like to
Summer at Rivermont! The majority of courses are 1 week long, 3 hours per day. However, some
are full-day courses and others run for 2 weeks.
Campers may attend both morning and afternoon courses and bring a sack lunch with a drink for
supervised lunch and recess between sessions. (If your camper is only attending 1 session each day
but you would like him/her to have lunch with us, simply include an additional $20 per week for
supervision over the lunch hour and check the appropriate box on the registration form.)
Age Ranges
Register your camper into the appropriate courses based on the grade he/she completed at the end of
the 2015/16 school year or the grade he/she will be entering in the fall of 2016. Classes are geared
toward the upper age group.
Drop Off & Pick Up
Campers may be dropped off up to 15 minutes prior to the beginning of their course (no earlier,
please) and picked up no later than 15 minutes after their last course of the day concludes.
Parents/guardians need to sign in campers, ages 3-14, at the beginning of each day and sign
them out at pick up.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations and withdrawals may be made without penalty before Friday, May 29th at 4:00
p.m., after that, a 50% cancellation charge will apply. This includes withdrawals due to vacation
schedules, conflicting activities, etc.
Confirmation Policy
Within 1 week of receiving your registration, Rivermont will mail a confirmation letter along with a
copy of your camper’s registration form. If a class is full, we will contact you.
Registration
Payment can be made by cash or check (no credit cards, please). Payments must be made in full at
the time the registration form is returned. Please complete 1 registration form for each camper and
return to:

Dig into the fun of being an archaeologist. Take a look back on the earth when
dinosaurs roamed the land. Through science, reading, art and BIG adventure
we're on a discovery about dinosaurs and prehistoric times. We'll even create a
Natural History Museum of our own.

Students will participate in a new contest. Contests include a water balloon toss,
cup stacking, balancing a spoon on your nose, and even defying gravity. If you
like a challenge and want to test your abilities completing various tasks while
racing against the clock, then this class is for you!

basic chearleading and dance moves. To highlight the week, you will perform

Join the fun for this active and strategic summer sport. Learn the basics on the
Rivermont campus and then take your skill to the local Frisbee Golf course for
a friendly competition.
Rivermont will partner with River Music Experience (RME) KIDSTOCK, formerly Rock Camp USA, which will be
offered on our campus. RME's KIDSTOCK program features 2 week sessions for young musicians ages 8-18. Participants
rehearse their chosen songs, record them during dress rehearsal, and perform a concert in the Redstone Room. KIDSTOCK
rehearsals are held from 12:00-4:00 p.m. daily during each session.

KIDSTOCK at RME will include: Joining other musicians in your age range in a band setting, working together to select

bring original song ideas to camp, as well as your favorite contemporary and popular selections to perform.

Reader’s Theatre

learn how to write and perform a Reader’s Theatre, with a finale performance
during the Friday class.

Fiber Arts and Weaving

Learn how to craft your own looms while creating traditional and circular
weavings. Repurpose magazines to create colorful baskets and take a hike
to collect materials for nature weavings while exploring other cultures who
express themselves through fiber arts.

Intermediate Robotics

In this class, students will take their prior programming knowledge and expand
their building and programming skills using the ultrasonic and light sensors.
It is highly recommended that your child has taken the beginning robotics

army, trade with neighbors and conquer the world.

Advanced Robotics

This class has a pre-requisite: your child must have participated in an FLL
competition or have taken the Intermediate Robotics class at summer camp.
Students will be using the Gyro sensor and advanced programming to move the
robot in ways unimaginable. Maximum of 12 students.

Get ready to play with your food! Students will be making “food art” as well
as creating silly snacks and crazy treats like spaghetti and meatball cupcakes,
apple smiles, and Krispi sushi. Then head outside to play many “old school”
games like Hopscotch, 4 Square, Pick-Up Sticks, Jacks and many more.

Science Fair

Learn how to create a quality science fair project for school, local or state
science fair. A Science teacher and state science fair judge will guide your child
along the frameworks of a great sicence fair project presentation.

Video Creation

Using green screen and video software, your child will learn how to make
a video for the topic of their choice. Impress teachers at school, friends and
family with what your child will learn in this class.

Registration

enrolls in both morning and afternoon courses (or a full
day course), supervised lunch is included (please bring a
sack lunch). If your camper is attending only 1 course each
