Birdie is the story of a young Rock and Roll star being sent off to war in the mid 1950s. As a farewell to his many adoring fans, he gives “One Last Kiss” to one lucky girl! Sounds simple enough… well then add in some catchy tunes, a jealous boyfriend, a “one of a kind” mother, a woman fed up with playing the waiting game, and a father who’s dream of being on the Ed Sullivan show comes true and you have a GREAT musical! Bye Bye Birdie originally opened on Broadway April 14, 1960 starring Dick Van Dyke, Chita Rivera, Paul Lynde, Dick Gautier & Kay Medford. And it ran for 607 performances! In 1963, Hollywood called and Birdie went to the BIG screen bringing many of the original Broadway stars along for the ride! I am so excited to be back with Pickwick Players getting the opportunity to direct one of my favorite musicals! So sit back and get ready to “Put on a Happy Face” with this wonderful cast as we bring you BYE BYE BIRDIE! Special thanks to my amazing production team for ALL your hard work and dedication!! Thank you, Frank Remiatte Director Guest Artist Appearance- We are pleased to have a local guest artist step in for each performance as The Mayor's Wife. The artist has either been on stage or has dreams of being on stage! We welcome "Edna" with open arms! Special Thanks Moxie Theatre Carlton Oaks School and Santee School District OnStage Playhouse Patio Playhouse Scripps Ranch Theatre All of the parents and family members that helped with ushering and refreshments CAST PROFILES Cameron Williams (Albert Peterson) is excited to be back on stage for a Pickwick Players full-scale musical after staying behind the scenes and producing the last few.
