A NOTE FROM PICKWICK’S ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
Welcome to the final show of our 2014 season! We are excited and
grateful to be back at Off Broadway Live for the third time, and are
confident that we will continue to grow and thrive here in the Santee
community.
Especially in this holiday season, we at Pickwick feel it is important
to reach out to those in need. For A Charlie Brown Christmas, we
have selected Santee Santas and Project Linus. Santee Santas has
been organizing food and toy drives for needy families in Santee for
over fifty years, and we have a food bin in the theatre for donations.
Project Linus is a national non-profit organization that organizes the
making of homemade blankets for critically ill children, and we have
a basket at our snack bar to collect monetary donations for the local
chapter. We hope you will consider making a donation to one of
these worthy causes!
A Charlie Brown Christmas marks our third mentor show with an
older cast mentoring a younger cast. We have previously used a
model of adults mentoring youth, but this time we decided to try
something different with a teen cast mentoring a younger youth cast.
We quickly discovered in the rehearsal process that the younger
cast had plenty to teach the teen cast on how to speak and act like a
Peanuts character! We are thrilled (pun intended) to produce our
next mentor show this summer, Agatha Christie’s murder mystery
And Then There Were None, with an adult cast and a youth cast.
After considering donating to the charities listed above, if you feel so
inclined, Pickwick Players thrives on donations from its patrons. This
is what allows us to continue to offer theatrical experiences for youth
without production fees, a rarity in San Diego.
Thank you for your support!
