From the Fleet Captain:
From the Women’s Organization:
This is my first of what I hope to be many articles
for the Ditty Bag. Before I get into the events past,
present and future. I want to take a minute to let
everybody know how truly honored I am to be your
Fleet Captain. I want you to know, I will do my very
best to up hold the Constitution and by Laws. I take
this honor very seriously. It’s been a very busy
spring so far. All the dredging is done along with
replacing 2 pilings, we came in slightly under
budget. All the catwalks have been painted, the jet
docks are in. The Water, Electric and Pump Out are
all online and the Marina is open. Boats are already
in their slips. I want to thank all the members for all
their excellent work that has made this possible. If
you don’t expect excellence you will never get it.
All the dock carts for transporting supplies from our
cars to the boats have been completely rebuilt and
painted. These carts are for boat supplies only NOT
for yard work or other kinds of maintenance projects. By the time you read this the Opening Breakfast will have come and gone and I’m sure it was a
great success. The way everybody has been working
to put it together it couldn’t fail. Throughout the
month of May the dock committee will continue its
work and hopefully everything will be standing tall
by Memorial Day Weekend. That weekend will begin the summer events. Friday 5/25 will be the P.
C. - T.G.I.F. Saturday 5/26 the P.C. Punch Party.
Sunday 5/27 the first Sailboat race. Then June 9th
will be the new boat Christening. We have 10 boats
to Christen this year. This looks like it will be quite
an event so make your reservations early. Again I
want to Thank everyone for their help and the work
coming up in the future.
Hello! Well, those April showers & snow are sure
to bring us the beautiful May flowers! With Opening Day just behind us, we have so many events to
look forward to.
Fleet Captain, R. Fritz Dusel
The Woman’s Organization has another fun event
planned for all ladies of Sandy Beach coming up on
Thursday, May 24th. It will be an ‘Evening of Jewelry Making’ with a representative from Gleam &
Glimmer. You can view the website at www.
gleamandglimmer.com to see the beautiful jewelry
that can be made. Please contact Marilyn Bush at
632-2708 or mjbush@aol.com by May 18th for your
reservation.
One of the wonderful things that the Women's Organization does is to contribute to a charity every
month. For March & April, we have donated to the
Buffalo Chapter of the American Diabetes Association. Any SBYC member can submit a charity of
choice to Marilyn Bush for the Women's Organization to consider.
The next Women’s Organization hosted club event
will be a Father’s Day TGIF on Friday, June 15th.
Menu will be an Open Steak Sandwich, Cheese Potatoes, Wedge Salad & Ice Cream Novelties for
$12.00 per person. Please R.S.V.P. to Debbie Walsh
773-9549 or Claudia O’Neil 773-8023 by Saturday,
June 9th.
If anyone would like to help with any of our events,
please contact any Board member. Remember – the
success of all our parties helps the Women’s Organization support our Club. Our ‘wish list’ for 2012 is
to be able to purchase more of the 60” round plastic
tables, chairs for the outside patio, one new umbrella
and a carpet shampooer.
Claudia O'Neil, House Chair

Hello All,
I wanted to let you know that the Sandy Beach South Reunion pictures as well as several pages with pictures of the
Bar Renovation Project are now on the Sandy Beach website. Go to http://www.sandybeachyachtclub.com/
PhotoPages/2012/2012PhotoGallery.html to see them as
well as the rest of this year’s photos.
Most importantly, I have a request. If you are a party chairman or have any poster or information that you would like
to have on the website that has to do with SBYC, please
email it to me (bob.zielinski@gmail.com). If you want the
information in the Ditty Bag you need to send it to Bob Dubil (bboater111@aol.com ). You can send it to both of us at
the same time but if you don’t get it to both of us it won’t
get into both places.
Also, we still have the Member’s Only section which will
be updated with current member information once I get it
from our V/C and Secretary. It’s meant to be an online
Roster book so if you don’t have a user name and password
please contact me.
