Project Engineering Capability
Project Engineering Capability An end-to-end capability. Delivering and supporting complete or part engineering projects on customer site, in our own workshops or in the most extreme environments globally Capabilities: Design Engineering (Lightweight structures/ Naval, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Outfit) Production Engineering Project Design / Development Project Management and Project Customer Management Fabrication (Aluminium, Steel, Fibre Reinforced Plastic) / Structural Repair Mechanical Installation / Mechanical Repair Electrical / Electronic Installation / Repair / Modification Outfitting Flexible Structure (Polymer / Rubber) Manufacture / Repair Surface Finishing and blasting Marine / Industrial Manufacturing Operational Testing / Trialling Marine / Industrial Maintenance Operational Testing / Trialling Marine / Industrial Operator Training Marine / Industrial Maintenance Training In-Country Systems Commissioning and trials Quality ISO 9001 OHAS 18001 Lloyds Register Approved Supplier: Royal Dutch Shell Boeing Lockheed Martin James Fisher UK MoD Indian MoD Pakistan MoD Saudi Arabian MoD Peruvian Navy Colombian Navy Design Engineering To International Marine Class and Flag Requirements / Standards International Engineering Standards Structural Design Mechanical Electrical / Electronic including power electronics (compact hybrid motors / generators / control systems configuration) Canbus design testing and configuration Flexible structures Aerodynamic thrust and lift modelling Ballistic protection installation Weapons integration QUALITY DESIGN ENGINEERING CASE STUDIES First of class diesel electric hovercraft Unique direct diesel electric drive and control system with no battery storage MCA approved Electro actuated control Modular power packs for ease of maintenance Fabrication Aluminium (down to 1.5 mm sheet) Lloyds coding Sheet metal items In house Dye Pen inspection X-ray and ultrasonic inspection/qualified Steel Fabrication Bonding Flexible structures Hot / cold bonding Welding Sewing Fibre Reinforced Plastics Glass Carbon Aramid Vacuum impregnation Mechanical Engineering Approved installation: Lloyds MTU MAN FPT Deutz Bibby / Centa Drivelines Aerospace Propellers Hoffman Hertzell MT Vibration testing Balancing Hydraulics Electromechanical actuation Laser shaft alignment Water jet installation Genset installation Air conditioning installation Hydraulics installation Best transmissions Pipefitting Tooling and jig design and manufacture FABRICATION CASE STUDIES Indian Coast Guard on-time delivery 12 craft build in four stage pulse line with a tac-time of 12 weeks. Each stage delivered to schedule with complete contract delivered ahead of schedule. Special forces vehicle chassis fabrication GHL assistance called in on a project where the delivery of chassis had fallen well behind schedule. A new flow line was set up with balanced cells, improved tooling and quality control. Throughput was doubled within 4 weeks and doubled again within another 4 weeks to recover deliveries. Electrical/Electronic Systems Lloyds / Flag Standards Canbus Electro-optical (thermal, daylight, image intensifying) Power electronics Low volume codified wiring installations Integrated bridge systems Radar/ navigation and Radio installations including MOD Bowman Linear actuation Enclosure builds Switchboard building Commissioning and testing Outfitting OUTFITTING CASE STUDIES Outfitting Marine fit out Carpentry Furnishing Galley and W/C installations Ceiling, lining, partition and floor fitting Carpets Brackets and fittings Aluminium and steel fabrication GHL outfitting team assisted with the refit of the liner Thompson Dream whilst it was at sea and in Port in Gibraltar. The team lived and worked on board for two weeks, helping to complete the project on time. Operations and Training Preparation of formal training programmes, both theory and practical Bespoke classroom facilities with AV and simulation tools Maritime & Coast Guard Agency approved training instructors and accreditation process Production Engineering/ Project management Project planning process using Microsoft Projects Low volume lean manufacturing End to end project management Visual management Flow / line side supply Maintenance / Refit In-Workshop or In-Country Comprehensive workshop facilities with overhead cranes, water access and slipway Statutory authority oversight Work carried out in all climates Major refit and modifications Fixed price and timescale with penalties On target for delivery CASE STUDIES Passenger ferry with cracked engine frame. 24 hour weekend turn round including statutory oversight and approval. Windfarm Cat upgrade and repair. Fixed price and 6 week on-time project. Major repair following propeller failure due to foreign object damage. 3 week turn round.
