15th July 2016 Meet the Monks Now that other monks are helping with the Parish Masses on a regular cycle, we will be running a series of introductions so that parishioners know a little about the monks and have a basis for getting to know them better: Dom James Hood Dom James Hood will be presiding at the Saturday evening Mass on July 16 th and the Sunday evening Mass on July 17 th . He will also be presiding at the Conventual Mass in the Abbey Church on Sunday morning at 10 a.m. Dom James is the head of Downside School’s chaplaincy team and often says the Masses in St Benedict’s Primary School. He is Novice Master and recently oversaw a meeting of novices from the communities of monks and nuns across England. He has been Master of Ceremonies in the Abbey Church for many years and in 2004 walked the pilgrimage route to Compostela. Dom Leo Maidlow Davis CAR PARK NEWS The car park behind St Benedict’s church is almost finished. Some difficulties with the ground have meant that it is not going to be complete until the beginning of August. Then you will be able to enter the car park from Abbey Road and leave by the A367 exit beside Ramsay House, without needing to turn round in the car park. The finished project will include signage and guidance. Price will be dependent on numbers, and the cost of flights, but will not exceed £900. Downside has been able to secure this pilgrimage at a considerable discount on normal commercial rates. Any Parishioners who are interested in joining the Pilgrimage, should let one of the Parish Priests know if they require financial assistance, as the Parish may be able to help with this.
