26thMay2016 - Endeavour Schools
U From The Principals Issue 7 26th May 2016 Dear Parents, Caregivers and Community Members, It has been a difficult time for many of us here at Endeavour Schools, with the recent passing of long term Principal Mr Alan Hansen. On behalf of the staff we would like to thank you, as community members for your support and understanding as we deal individually with the grief associated with losing a colleague. We would also like to commend staff who have ensured that the learning programs provided for students have continued as planned with minimal disruption, giving students the routine needed to assist them in dealing with the news. Community members wishing to pay their respects are welcome to attend Mr Hansen’s funeral this coming Saturday (May 28) at Fremantle Cemetery at 10:00am. The school will be holding an honouring ceremony to honour Mr Hansen’s contribution to Endeavour Schools in his role as Principal since 2003. This honouring ceremony will be held at 2:15pm on Friday, 3rd June for students in Years 3 to 6. If your child is in Pre Primary to Year 2 and you wish for them to attend, please inform your child’s classroom teacher. Mr Hansen was a valuable and highly respected member of our team here at Endeavour Schools and the effects of his loss are being felt already by those of us who had the honour and pleasure of working with him. Mr Hansen was extremely proud of Endeavour Schools’ students, staff and school community and always went out of his way to promote our Schools within the wider community. We have many cherished memories of Mr Hansen that will remain with us as time goes by, he would always go to daily fitness each day and happily chat with students, staff and parents as they went by, he had a real passion for maintaining and developing the school grounds and gardens and we will continue to smile as we remember the way he never turned down an invitation to attend any school events. Our thoughts are with Mr Hansen’s family at this time. Phil Springett Principal Jayne Gorbould Principal U G3 News This term our theme is Travelling Around the World. We have been reading the novel Flat Stanley and have enjoyed sharing his travels and many adventures. We have also been using our research skills to prepare a talk about a country of our choice. As you can see from the photos; we loved getting messy, using scaled instruments to make salt dough and creating an Egyptian cartouche. Our buddy class this year is Room 4 and meeting with our buddies each fortnight is a highlight for us. A new and important skill we are continuing to learn in Digital Technologies is coding. These are some thoughts about our learning activities this term: Liam - Working with our buddies is important because you meet more people and make new friends. Osker - With our buddies we learn how to be FAFY. Baya - Wherever there is trouble, Flat Stanley is willing to help. Sean - Coding helps you with different subjects like Spelling, Reading and Math. Taty - Coding is important because you can use it throughout the years. U Award Recipients from Assembly held on 25th May 2016 Triple P Tips for Parents Teach your child new skills by first showing the skill yourself, then giving your child opportunities to learn the new skill. For example, speak politely to each other in the home. Then, prompt your child to speak politely (e.g., say ‘please’ or ‘thank you’), and praise your child for their efforts. Triple P hold Seminar Series and Positive Parenting courses throughout the year. These courses provide valuable parenting strategies for your child’s development and behaviour. All courses are advertised on the Noticeboard outside the staffroom or you can visit www.healthywa.wa.gov.au/Triple_P Honour Values EC1 Jet G Bethenny R EC2 Cambell B Jacob R EC3 Ruben M Jaxx H Rm 4 Raimapaha B Sonny F Rm 5 Liliarna R Rm 10 Connor L Ella G Rm 11 Blake M Tristan P Rm 12 Spencer S Alec A Rm 13 Kiki Mc Ashlee D Rm 14 Makayla M-K Aoife M-K Rm 15 Dylan P Emily S Rm 16 Jess D Rm 17 Tyler T Bailey K Rm 18 Te Koha T Bowen J Rm 22 Josh N Dylan T Rm 25 Danielle J Rm GI Sarah M Cameron L Rm G2 Bailey C Darius G Rm G3 Harrison D Dylan P Phys Ed Award Rm 11 LOTE Award G3 Congratulations to all award recipients. 2017 Kindy & Pre Primary Enrolments Kindergarten and Pre-Primary enrolments for 2017 are now being taken at Endeavour Schools. Education Support enquires – Jayne Gorbould Community Notices U Endeavour Schools have EFTPOS facilities available in the front office. This facility can be used for payments over $5 such as contributions, swimming lessons or excursions. Smaller amounts must go through the class money books. Please check the noticeboard outside the staffroom regularly for community events and sporting information received by the schools. Notices in the Community Advertising section are inserted for your information. The schools are not associated with any of these groups or businesses. Parents are encouraged to make payments in advance for any future expenses such as swimming lessons, incentivals and excursions. These payments will be held as credit in your child’s account and then allocated against excursions as they occur. Payment can be made by cash, EFTPOS or direct deposit. Credit card payments can be made over the phone as well as in the office. A change to our payment plan policy will mean that all incursions / excursions will need to be paid IN FULL before the due date otherwise your child may not be eligible to attend. If you require any more information, please see the front office. With the onset of the colder weather, already lots of students and parents are coming into the front office looking for lost jumpers. Please ensure that all items of clothing, drink bottles and lunch boxes are clearly labelled with your child’s name so that we can return them to students when they are found. If your child happens to come home with an item which does not belong to them, please have the courtesy to return it to the school so we can return it to its rightful owner. Thankyou.
