We have also welcomed new members of staff to join the Tiger
family who have settled in really quickly – it feels like they have
been here since the beginning. We are now looking to welcoming
our new Family Support Officer at the end of next term.
It has been lovely to see how mature the children have become over the summer,
especially those who are now in Key Stage 2 and the way that they are helping the
younger children to settle in.
We have been embracing our place in the wider community by a number of initiatives
with staff at New Line Learning (NLL) Academy. All the children enjoyed a visit from NLL
Drama students, who performed in the Heart Space.
Come and explore Tiger Primary School in our brand new building in Boughton
Lane, Loose, at one of our exciting open mornings.
Some of the children were also very brave and had the opportunity to hold a Giant African Snail who also visited school for an assembly. We look forward to working together
with NLL and Cornwallis Academy students in the future.
Tours will be taking place at 9.30am and 10.30am on the following dates:
As part of their professional development, the maths teachers from Cornwallis have
also been visiting Tiger to see how we teach maths to the children and have left the
school enthused about the way in which we are engaging the children in this subject.

YEAR 4 UPDATE:
AWARDS AND
AND ACHIEVEMENTS:
ACHIEVEMENTS:
AWARDS
It has been an exciting and busy term in Year 4. This term Beetle class has found out what life was
like as a Roman soldier by joining the army and following orders in Latin. The children had an opportunity to make their own shields as well as construct Roman buildings.
House Points
We have also enjoyed learning about habitats, food chains and classifying animals in our Science
lessons.
In our English lessons, we have been reading the ‘Ice Palace’ by Robert Swindells. This term the
children have written some great poems, letters and stories based on the book.
We are looking forward to finding out about the next set of invaders who came to our shores…The
Vikings!

WOW!:
5
Since the scheme launches on Wednesday,
October 14th, children have been presented with WOW passport tally cards, where
they can fix the special stickers they’ll be rewarded with every time they walk to school
on a Wednesday.
Principal Charlotte Scott said: “We’re really
excited to be involved in the Walk on WOW Wednesday challenge. It’s a fun way of being healthy
and helping the environment.”
Families who feel they live too far away from the school can take part by parking away from the
campus and walking the last five minutes of the journey.

THINGS TO DO IN THE HOLIDAYS:
As always, PAWS have been busy supporting the school this
term with a range of fundraising activities.
To start with, thanks to money raised during the last academic
year, PAWS were able to pay for new playground markings,
which were unveiled on the children’s first day back after the
summer break.
The Christmas planning is well underway with plenty of fun initiatives coming up in the run-up
to the festive season.
On Friday, October 23rd, the children were invited to wear non-uniform clothes but instead of
a financial contribution, families were asked to donate a bottle for PAWS’ Christmas event.
PAWS are pleased to announce their Christmas Event will be a family pantomime! A touring
pantomime company will be performing ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ on Sunday, December 6th
at Cornwallis Academy, at 11am and at 2.15pm. Refreshments and games will be available
between 12.30pm and 2pm. Santa has also promised to find time in his busy schedule to visit!
Tickets are £5 per person (children under 2 are free if seated on an adult’s lap) and will be on
sale at drop off and pick up on Wednesday, November 4th and Friday, November 7th.
Please note that payment is by cheque only, this should be made payable to ‘Tiger Paws’. If
you are unavailable to purchase tickets on any of these occasions please contact us directly at
tigerpaws@futureschoolstrust.com.
Everyone is welcome, however, we must make you aware that we will only have a specific
number of tickets for sale.

This month, the children came home with an art sheet for them to design their own Christmas
card. For ideas, please visit http://www.mychildsart.co.uk/ideas/index.html. The design must
be inside the box! Bright colours, preferably in felt tip pens and colouring pencils, are recommended. All art sheets must be returned by Thursday, November 5th.

Parents and Carers of Year 1 children, last year your children made a drawing of themselves
at school for inclusion on a commemorative Year R Tea Towel. We have a limited number
available, so if you missed the order deadline and would like to purchase one, please email
tigerpaws@futureschoolstrust.com or send us a message via Facebook. The price for each
tea towel is £3.50. Once payments are received, we will place your tea towels in your child’s
book bag.
Children in Year R are currently producing a drawing of themselves for inclusion on their Year
R Tea Towel. The price for each tea towel is a maximum of £4.00 but if we receive lots of
orders, we are able to get a better price from the manufacturer and therefore pass this saving
on to you, like we did the last time.
Please look out for updates from us on how you will be able to order these.
We’ve compiled a list of fun things to do with the family in the October break:
