CREATING A NEW ACCOUNT: Point your web browser to http://ctap2.iassessment.org Click on the button: Create New Account Figure 1- 1 You will be asked to select and save the county, district and school where you work. Figure 1- 3 If you are Certificated Staff (teacher, library media specialist, etc.), you will be asked to indicate the grade levels and subject areas you teach. The 4 Digit ID can be any 4 digit number you will remember: your birthday, the last four digits of your phone number, etc. The password must be letters and/or numbers only, no special characters like dashes (-), slashes (/\), underscores (_), ampersands (&) or question marks (?). Figure 1- 5 The clue Question and clue Answer will be used if you forget your password. The system will ask you one of the clue questions, you provide the answer, and it then gives you your password. Select the radio button to select the clue Question you want to use. This is a good page to print out, write your password on and keep for your records. Figure 1- 6 Click on Enter into CTAP2 to continue. Complete the information under Existing Accounts, and click Login. Figure 2- 1 John Rivera, john.rivera@lausd.net Page 5 LAUSD Local District E, www.lausd.net/district_e TAKING THE CTAP2 PROFICIENCY ASSESSMENT: The Proficiency Assessment is an on-line, self-assessment tool that allows educators to determine their level of technology proficiency - Introductory, Intermediate, or Proficient. The self-assessment is based upon rubrics established in each area of technology competency and aligned with the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) "Factors to Consider", which is the Technology Standard for a California K-12 Preliminary Teaching Credential. Based on the results of the assessment, educators can view and select training opportunities that will advance their proficiency. While the results for the individual teacher are private, charts can be displayed showing the overall level for teachers at a school site as well as within a district, county, region, or for the entire state. After you log in to the CTAP2 Web site, take the Technology Proficiency Assessment by click on the My Proficiency Assessment tab. Figure 3- 1 The categories on the survey are taken directly from the CTAP Technology Proficiency Preliminary Profile. Each category includes a group of sub-categories. Select a subcategory to complete the survey by clicking on its title. Click on the icon in the first column to display the CTC Technology Standards and/or the ISTE NETS Standards addressed by this assessment. The last column will show the date you last took the survey. The category chart may also be viewed from this screen by clicking on the View Chart icon. John Rivera, john.rivera@lausd.net Page 6 LAUSD Local District E, www.lausd.net/district_e If you are required to prove that you have taken the Proficiency Assessment, a printout of the My Proficiency Assessment main page (Figure 6-1), which has your name and shows your most recent assessment completion dates, will provide appropriate proof. Figure 3- 2 To complete the survey, click the box next to the survey item that most accurately describes your skills. It is better to underestimate your skills, especially the first time you fill out the survey. If you are not sure, do not select an item. Once you have selected all that apply, click Record & go to Next Sub-Category to go to the next sub-category and its questions or click Record & Return to Menu to go back to the Categories list. John Rivera, john.rivera@lausd.net Page 7 LAUSD Local District E, www.lausd.net/district_e TECHNOLOGY USE SURVEY: The Technology Use Survey is an on-line tool that allows site, district, county and state administrators to gather information regarding certificated staff's use of technology tools. The survey addresses four areas of teacher technology usage: 1) Use of technology tools for classroom management and instruction; 2) Their student's use of technology tools for classroom assignments; 3) Their professional development preferences, and 4) Their technical support experiences. From any page, click on the My Technology Use Survey tab. Figure 4- 1 The Technology Use Survey has four categories. There are questions about: Personal Use, Student Use, Staff Development Needs and Technical Support. Click on the name of the Technology Use Survey category to view the survey questions. If you have taken the survey on a previous occasion, the date of that survey will appear in the right hand column. If you are required to prove that you have taken the Technology Use Survey, a printout of the My Technology Use Survey main page (Figure 12-1), which has your name and shows your most recent survey completion dates, will provide appropriate proof. When you have finished, click on the Record My Responses button at the bottom of the screen to return to the survey category list (Figure 12-1).
