Current designs are based on the innovative Environship concept that combines seakindly and low resistance hullforms with efficent propulsion systems such as Promas and advanced electrical systems. The result is efficient ships with a low environmental impact. These world-leading designs are backed up by Rolls-Royce ship systems and equipment, providing effective and low risk solutions for both ship owners and shipyards. The design process evolves from initial discussions to define the customer’s operating requirements, through a concept design that is the best answer to these requirements, to detailed design and engineering by our e xperienced naval architects and marine engineers of a vessel for the chosen yard to build. A successful track record includes luxurious Ro-Pax cruise vessels, coastal passenger liners and many types of ferries. 6 c r u is e a nd f e r r i e s Typical applications NVC 253 LNG Ro-Pax Ship name: Owner: Type: Yard: Kriti III Anek Lines, Greece Ro-Ro/passenger ferry Fosen Mek. Combined anchor- and mooring winches Combined anchor- and mooring winches Mooring winches Anchoring and mooring systems to suit your vessel Rolls-Royce provides a comprehensive range of mooring and anchoring winches for cruise and passenger ferries. The deck machinery is based on a modular design, which allows the winches to be tailored to meet the vessel’s requirements effectively and economically. Our winches are available with three main types of drives to best suit the particular application. Features can include remote control and autotensioning. We offer three-speed pole-change or frequency converter stepless speed control electric drives, and a choice of low-pressure or high-pressure hydraulic drives. 10 c r u is e a n d f e r r i e s High-pressure drive Electric drive Typical applications Low-pressure drive Ship name:Nieuw Amsterdam Owner: Holland America Line, Holland Type: Cruise ship Yard: Fincantieri – Cantieri Navali Italiani, Italy Ship name: Owner: Type: Yard: Spirit of France P&O Ferries, UK Passenger/vehicle ferry STX Europe, Finland Ship name: Blue Star Delos Owner: Blue Star Ferries Maritime, Greece Type: Passenger/vehicle ferry Yard: Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, South Korea Ship name: Owner: Type: Yard: Armorique Brittany Ferries, UK Passenger/vehicle Ferry STX Europe, Finland Ship name: Owner: Type: Yard: Ship name: Owner: Type: Yard: Queen Elizabeth Carnival Corp., USA Cruise ship Fincantieri – Cantieri Navali Italiani, Italy Color Fantasy Color Line, Norway Passenger/vehicle ferry STX Europe, Finland cru i s e a n d f e rri e s 11 Engines To succeed in the cruise and passenger business, you need power to run, illuminate and control your v essel. For many cruise ships and ferries, Rolls-Royce lean burn gas engines with LNG fuel are the solution, combining high efficiency with low emission levels. Our engine range, both gas and diesel, provides a robust and reliable source of power, either for mechanical transmission or as generator sets. Our gas engines meet IMO Tier 3 regulations with low levels of greenhouse carbon dioxide, as well as nitrogen and sulphur oxides and particulates which affect local air quality when vessels are stationed in port. The C 26:33 engine is unrestricted and responsive, and has achieved the EPA certificate of conformity. It is now available for delivery and operation in the US. Our gas engines have already proven their qualities on Typical applications ferries, ro-pax and coastal ships operating in Europe. Wherever your vessel is located, Rolls-Royce support is close at hand. Operational availability must be maintained today in the most cost-effective way. Variable market conditions and increasing competition should not undermine safe ship operations. Therefore, we work closely with our customers to support their fleets, ensuring that they are operating safely and at maximum efficiency, with the goal of virtually eliminating unscheduled downtime. Reducing through life costs Reducing operating costs and maximising availability is our objective. This has led us to work closer with a number of our customers in maintenance planning and recommending spares holding. By being involved from the start we have the opportunity to focus on the activities that make a difference, acquiring and pre-positioning service or exchange parts to ensure a smoother overhaul process, saving time spent in dock. A comprehensive menu of service solutions We are proud of the performance of our systems, and are keen to ensure that they continue to operate at their peak throughout their lifetime. Our services now range from conventional product support, with no impact on ship a vailability, through to a range of equipment and system s upport packages with levels of vessel performance and availability agreed, normally within a long-term risk and reward-sharing partnership called MarineCare. Committed to meeting different needs Above all, at the centre of our support philosophy, is recognition that all customers have different and often unique requirements, based on their fleet operations. Whatever the mix of requirements, Rolls-Royce is committed to meeting or exceeding them. Product training Single point of contact As we have progressively increased the breadth of our product range, we have continued investing heavily in the facilities and the talent needed to support them. As multiproduct installations are becoming standard on a growing number of vessels, c ustomers benefit from a single point of contact for support, which is usually the nearest Rolls-Royce regional centre to the vessel’s location. 14 c r u is e a n d f e r r i e s At Rolls-Royce we believe that regular training ensures that you will get the most out of a vessel’s equipment and systems, and it also ensures that they are operated and maintained efficiently and safely. Experienced and informed people are a key asset. As technology advances, so must the competence levels of operators and service personnel. We therefore offer a range of tailored training courses and programmes in state-of-the-art facilities equipped with the latest simulators and training aids.
