A Year of Transformation and Innovation
Dear Friends and Family,
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all
who have supported Dimock throughout the past fiscal
year. Your support for our annual appeals, Steppin’ Out
for Dimock, and for our programs and services have
helped to catalyze a year of incredible transformation
and innovation at The Dimock Center. As our ambassadors, you make it possible for us to work every day with
a focused vision of redefining the model of a healthy
community by providing equitable access to comprehensive health care and education.
Transition that begins at our very foundation
FY2014 was filled with campus-wide capital reinforcements that will improve efficiency and provide
an enhanced environment for our employees, patients,
clients and families. We transitioned three of our buildings from oil heat to gas fire furnaces – systems in place
since the early 1900’s – and will save nearly $150,000
a year. The project was finished ahead of schedule and
significantly under budget, achieving a 30 percent
reduction in operating costs.
Renovation and Expansion
Our largest project was a $4.9 million dollar complex,
multidisciplinary renovation to the Richards Building
(health center) that expands patient access and provides
state-of-the-art clinical improvements. The innovative, family centered design allows us to connect our
adult behavioral health and primary care clinics, and
add a Physical Therapy Program. The project began in
FY2014 and concluded in December 2014, one month
earlier than expected, and was funded by a competitive
HRSA grant.
Finally, we added 20 much-needed parking spaces
to the employee and patient parking lot – a project
funded in partnership with our clinical partner Boston
Children’s Hospital.
Discussions as catalyst to change
This year, Dimock played host to discussions on topics
of vital interest to our community: healthcare reform
and the substance abuse epidemic. These events brought
together community members and key government and
healthcare stakeholders to not only initiate attention to
community concerns, but as impetus for action.
Thank you for your partnership
As we look to the future, we continue to deepen and
strengthen strategic partnerships to help grow our
services and programs. We maintain our commitment
to enhancing access for the underserved, and with your
continued support we’ll work to create best practices
that empower our patients, clients and employees while
inspiring cutting-edge health and human services
throughout our community and our nation.

The Dimock Center provides
dedicated care to hundreds of
clients and patients each day. The
breadth of our services enables us
to offer families and individuals a
full range of care to help them live
healthier lives.
In FY2014, our Health Center alone received over 76,000
patient visits, with 17,000 unique
patients and clients representing
a wide socioeconomic and ethnic
background. In addition, we have
400 children on campus every
day through our Head Start, Early
Head Start, Early Intervention and
School Readiness programs.

Taking The Lead and Breaking New Ground
Highlights of vibrant year
In FY14, The Dimock Center continued to build on its public presence, taking a more vocal role in the
press as it brought a fresh voice to some of the most pressing challenges we face in our community. Utilizing the introduction of Dr. Minter-Jordan as President and CEO, Dimock solidified its profile as a leader in
comprehensive healthcare and human services. Signature events like The Breakfast of Champions and the
Mayoral Forum poised The Dimock Center as a thought leader, while renowned events like Steppin’ Out
brought together new friends and old in support of a common cause.

Cowan. Senator Cowan delivered the
meeting’s keynote address on the topic
of the politics of healthcare, sharing
his experience in the United States
Senate and his belief in the importance of advocacy.
Dr. Jordan and The Dimock Center
were yet again the subject of an
important news profile in October
with Comcast Newsmakers. Dr.
Jordan continued to bring Dimock’s
mission to light, showcasing Dimock
as a national model for community
based health and human services
delivery. Dr. Jordan discussed
Dimock’s rich 151 year history and
the Center’s plans for future growth.
Steppin' Out For Dimock
The Dimock Center's annual event,
Steppin' Out, celebrated its 26th
anniversary this year with an extraordinary night of music, dancing, dinner
and support. Philanthropists and
friends of Dimock came together to
hear Grammy award-winning musicians The Isley Brothers and musicians
from across the commonwealth delivered a gala for all. The funds raised at
the event support the mix of programs
and services at Dimock.
Dimock Takes The Political Lead,
Hosts A Mayoral Health Forum
In September, The Dimock Center played
host to the 12 candidates for Mayor of
Boston with its Mayoral Forum. The event
offered members of the community the
opportunity to learn more about candidate
positions on outstanding healthcare issues
of today, including concerns about the
balance between access and cost of services;
providing healthcare for the homeless; and how best to grow the community
healthcare sector. The panel, moderated by Steve Aveson from New England
Cable News, included mayoral candidates Felix G. Arroyo, John Barros,
Charles Clemons, Dan Conley, John Connolly, Rob Consalvo, Charlotte
Golar Richie, Mike Ross, Bill Walczak, David James Wyatt, Charles C. Yancey
and current mayor, Martin J. Walsh.
Dimock Launches Service Days
In FY2014, Dimock piloted a new Service Days
program that offers interested organizations the
opportunity to give back through volunteerism.
Since its inception, a number of organizations
– including Sunlife, pictured here – have visited
the Dimock campus to conduct hands-on projects aimed at keeping Dimock’s 9-acre campus
up to par. Projects include landscaping, painting
and general upkeep, among others.

The Boston Business Journal shined a
spotlight on The Dimock Center’s Dr.
Myechia Minter-Jordan in July, 2013.
The thoughtful piece introduced Dr.
Jordan and The Dimock Center to the
business audience, profiling her
journey to Dimock and the health
center itself. The Journal noted that it
took just one visit to The Dimock
Center for Dr. Jordan to decide to
uproot her life in Baltimore to work as
its Chief Medical Officer. The piece
also served as an announcement to Dr.
Jordan’s then recent promotion to her
current role as President and CEO.
Dimock Holds First Annual Breakfast of Champions
Dr. Minter-Jordan Featured On BNN
Continuing to bring the substance abuse message to the forefront, Dr. Jordan
once again was the subject to a news feature in February of this year. Local
television station BNN’s interview of Dr. Jordan during its news program
brought focus to both the center and its role as a leader in integrated, accessible healthcare. During the interview, Dr. Jordan referenced Dimock’s place in
the community, its history, its vast and varied programs, and the comprehensive care model from which it works.

February brought government leaders from across the Commonwealth together
for The Dimock Center’s first annual Breakfast of Champions event. This year’s
topic: the increasingly challenging civic issue of substance abuse. The lively
discussion was also Dimock’s opportunity to tee-up its three-year campaign to
rebuild the Sewall building on Dimock campus, a building which houses one of
Boston’s most prominent inpatient substance abuse detoxification programs.
