Introduction The Allen-Bradley 1762-L40BXB is a member of the MicroLogix 1200 family of miniature PLC systems from Allen-Bradley designed for industrial use. It has been integrated into a didactic environment in the Festo Didactic ER format for use in vocational and further training. As such it can be used in the ER cabinet frames of the Festo Didactic equipment system or as a table unit or on a slotted assembly board. The digital inputs and outputs are wired up to two SysLink plugs (IEEE 488). The pin allocation corresponds to the SysLink interface of the modular production system (MPS) of Festo Didactic. © Festo Didactic GmbH & Co. KG • Allen-Bradley EduTrainer® ML1200 5 2. Design and function EduTrainers ML1200 Order no. 535811 are equipped with the new compact version of the MicroLogix 1200 series (Type 1762-L40BXB) Order no. 535826. The Allen-Bradley EduTrainer® ML1200 is connected to the PC via a serial interface cable on the CPU and programmed using the RSLogix 500 Professional Software, Order No. 535827 (Type 9324RL0700NXENE), or RSLogix 500 Starter Software, Order No. 535829 (Type 9324-RL0100ENE). Scope of delivery The Allen-Bradley EduTrainer® ML1200 consists of: • 1762-L40BXB PLC Connection of external equipment • Important The EasyPort must not be connected to a separate power supply if this cable is used, since the voltage to the Allen-Bradley EduTrainer® ML1200 is supplied via the cable. 6 For the purpose of process simulation (COSIVIS, COSIMIR® PLC, EasyVeep), the Allen-Bradley EduTrainer® ML1200 can communicate with the Interface EasyPort, Order No. 167121 via the SysLink interfaces using cable Order No. 167106. © Festo Didactic GmbH & Co. AG • Allen-Bradley EduTrainer® ML1200 2. Design and function • Important The digital simulation box, Order No. 170643 can be connected via the cable Order No. 034031 for the generation of binary input and display of binary output signals. The simulation box does not need to be connected to a separate voltage supply if this cable is used, since the voltage supply from the AllenBradley EduTrainer® ML1200 is transmitted via that cable. • The universal terminal unit (SysLink) Order No. 162231, equipped with the same interface, can be connected via the cable Order No. 034031, and the actuators and sensors connected via 4 mm fail-safe plug. (See also „Examples for the connection of Festo Didactic components for the Allen-Bradley EduTrainer® ML1200“ in this document.) The voltage supply must be supplied by an external 24 V DC source. The power supply units from Festo Didactic are suitable for this and are available in the form of a function card model for the ER-cabinet frames or in the form of a table model. Installation options • • Inputs/outputs • The Allen-Bradley EduTrainer® ML1200 can be used in an ER cabinet frame of the Festo Didactic equipment system. The Allen-Bradley EduTrainer® ML1200 can be mounted on a slotted assembly board or in the form of a table unit. 4 Adaptors Order No. 323571 are required for use on the slotted assembly board. The digital inputs and outputs are wired up to two SysLink plugs (IEEE 488). The pin allocation corresponds to the SysLink interface of the Modular Production system (MPS) from Festo Didactic. (The precise plug allocation can be found in the contact allocation table of this document.) © Festo Didactic GmbH & Co. KG • Allen-Bradley EduTrainer® ML1200 7 3. Programming software, documentation, teachware The programming of the Allen-Bradley EduTrainer ML1200 is effected via the programming software RSLogix 500 Professional Software Order No. 535828 (Type 9324-RL0700NXENE) or RSLogix 500 Starter Software, Order No. 535829 (Type 9324-RL0100ENE), which gives you the ability to program in ladder logic. You will need a serial cable, Order No. 535827 (Type 1762-CBL-PM02) to connect the Allen-Bradley EduTrainer ML1200 to the serial interface of the PC. If the Emergency-Stop function is integrated, then the Emergency-Stop device (normally closed contact) must be connected to these sockets. The voltage supply of the outputs (output byte 0) is interrupted if this normally closed contact is actuated. © Festo Didactic GmbH & Co. AG • Allen-Bradley EduTrainer® ML1200 6.
