Light
MAKING THE INVISIBLE VISIBLE
Ultraviolet is the name of a range of light
(energy) having a wavelength shorter than the
visible light detectible by the human eye.
While ultraviolet is invisible, it causes many
substances to fluoresce (glow) in a variety of
colors that are visible to the human eye. The
ability to make the invisible visible is what
makes ultraviolet lamps so valuable for mineral prospecting, criminal investigation, postage
stamp evaluation, and a host of other applications ranging from sanitation to medicine. The
chart illustrates UV’s range of wavelengths in
the electromagnetic spectrum.

CAUTION: Be very careful to limit exposure of
your eyes to shortwave ultraviolet rays. These rays can
“sunburn” the eyes and cause uncomfortable irritation. You
should not look into a shortwave lamp when it is turned on.
When working near a shortwave lamp, we recommend the
wearing of protective glasses. Longwave ultraviolet normally does not irritate the eyes, but we would not recommend staring into an ultraviolet lamp any more than we
would recommend staring into any other light.

rechargeable lead acid battery eliminating
replacements. One full 24-hour charge provides 5 to 7 hours of battery operation. All

Diamond SAWS
Thousands of satisfied customers can attest to the fact that we
probably produce the best all-around lapidary saw in the
market today. With the power feed it slabs smoothly and
consistently. It has built-in features demanded by professionals.
The lift-out sump is quickly and easily cleaned; the ball bearing arbor is precisely aligned, shielded and lubricated for life;
positive hold down on the crossfeed helps prevent blade damage; the crossfeed handle moves the vise exactly 1/16” per turn
for gauging slab thickness; and the clear hood helps contain oil
mist. The 10-inch model has an infeed rate of 10 inches per
hour. The saw is designed for positive slabbing and the vise
assembly swings away for easy trimming. A one-third horsepower motor is standard and is available in 115v/60Hz or
230v/50Hz.

The Yellow Blazer
The Yellow Blazer is a diamond rich, free cutting blade that is
manufactured in the conventional sintered continuous rim
design. It is similar to Black except for finer diamond on thinner core. Yellow is designed for thin kerfs that are suitable for
thin cuts on valuable materials such as turquoise, jade, opal,
etc. This blade cuts these materials freely, even with water
coolant. It is useful in production trimming of boules of synthetic gem materials. Where long life is required, the Yellow
Blazer is recommended over competitive plated blades.

The Black Blazer
The Black Blazer is similar to the Green
except that it has a heavier concentration of coarse diamond recommended
for heavier service in a diameter up to
14 inches. It now has a clear UV traceable protective outer coating the “diamond rich” formulation provides longer
life and better overall economy in many
operations. Available in sizes 6” to 14”.

MADE WITH RESILIENT RUBBER
Angled expansion slots through the heavy rubber rim allow the
drum to expand when rotated, thereby locking the finishing belt
in place. Belts can be quickly changed merely by stopping the
machine and slipping off the old belt and sliding on the new
one. In use, the resilient drum surface flexes to the gemstone’s
contour to quickly remove grinding flats—yet the convex drum
concentrates the cutting action so that scratches are quickly
removed even from flat surfaces. Rayspan drums are made
from a specially developed rubber compound which is soft,
resilient and durable. Each drum is supplied with telescopic
bushings to fit shafts 1/2", 5/8", 3/4" or 1" diameter.

This is a complete self-contained system that can be retro-fitted
to just about any grinding or sanding machine. The Rayspray is
a convenient, inexpensive way to update machinery now using
pressure or drip water systems. Less than a half inch of water is
needed in the grinding machine’s pan to make the Rayspray
function. 30 inches of tubing allows the Rayspray Coolant
pump to be conveniently located out of the way. Includes
pump, brass head and tubing.
For shafts end-tapped 1/4”-20. Either right or left hand. Spin
on, spin off – fast, for the quick easy change of
finishing discs. A separate Spin Disc for each grit saves time
and eliminates contamination. 6-inch diameter Spin Discs have

areas. The cutting rate is remarkably fast and remains that way.
The finish coming from the 1200 is a lustrous pre-polish (very
close to a polish on some hard stones). While the initial purchase price is higher than traditional silicon carbide abrasives,

Diamond abrasives are today’s state-of-the-art method
of finishing. Diamond products appear more costly than
conventional finishing methods utilizing carbide and
oxide polishes; however, diamond provides longer life
while producing faster, smoother, and overall superior
results. Many people believe that the more diamond
abrasive applied to a surface, the better the results. In
truth, an even dispersal of abrasive is the key to superior
finishing, not a greater quantity. Therefore, do not
attempt to “pile on” diamond abrasive. The results you
achieve will be disappointing.

NuBond is the outstanding pre-polish facet lap. A NuBond lap
requires little, if any, break-in to produce smooth finishes.
Compared to an electrobond lap, it will scratch less and will cut

self-sharpening diamond bonded directly to a solid aluminum

A most versatile polishing lap, especially useful with diamond
polishes. Fine metal particles embedded in a tough resin binder
provide the diamond holding properties of metal with the
grooving resistance of a reinforced resin structure. The microscopically interrupted surface eliminates any need for scoring
and reduces the tendency to scratch. The Fast Lap is most
effective when used with Raytech Diamond Spray in combination with Raytech Thinner (see page 13). Also useful with
oxide polishes.

are usable in ordinary drill presses that can reach speeds of at
least 5,000 RPM. All drills come with instructions and tips on

This all-in-one kit offers cutting, pre-polishing and polishing.
It produces superior results on metals including silver, gold,
pewter, bronze, brass, etc. and the 3-step system also contains
the sturdy TV-5 Vibratory Tumbler.
2 lbs. of 1/4" Green Pyramids, 2 lbs. of 1/4" White Pyramids,
1 lb. of Dri-Shine III also includes 2 bowls.
