Mission Statement
St. Frances Cabrini Church is a Roman Catholic
parish community with ethnic diversity. Our central
focus is the Eucharist from which all aspects of
parish life emanate. Being a Spirit filled, prayerful
and proactive parish, we foster Christian family life,
evangelization, and the spiritual nourishment of all
parishioners, both young and old. We endeavor to
follow the example of St. Frances Cabrini and
attend to all God's children in their temporal and
spiritual needs in order to alleviate their suffering.
We do all in the name of Jesus who is Lord and
Savior of us all.
Our parish enjoys a rainbow of activities
for all ages in Liturgy and in Service. If
you wish to join or volunteer, please
contact the rectory.

Today’s First Reading Acts5:27-32,40b-41) provides a glimpse of early Church history when the Apostles
clashed with the religious leaders of Jerusalem. Under the influence of the Holy Spirit , the Apostles cannot keep
silent. They need to teach about Jesus. The classic line “We must obey God rather than men” could be used as a
reflection start for the homily. Many examples throughout our history (even in the present day) challenge us to
follow God’s way in the face of human adversity.
Today’s Responsorial Psalm (Psalm 30) wonderfully ties in with the First Reading, reminding us that God rescues his faithful ones from adversity. The homilist may seek to bring together the two distinct but related themes
in Gospel ( John 21:1-19). In this reading that portrays the third of the post-Resurrection appearances, Jesus instructs the Apostles to cast their nets in the sea, call the group to breakfast, and finally instructs Peter to “feed my
sheep.” The many interactions between Jesus and the Apostles provide a number of avenues for the homilist.
Perseverance in the Lord, the Lord’s challenge to us in ordinary circumstances , and services each provide a focus for preaching . The preacher many want to prepare by reading Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger’s homily at the
funeral of Pope John Paul II in 2005 (http://www.zenit..org/en/articles/cardinal-ratzinger-s-homily-at john-paulii-s-funeral-mass). In that homily , Cardinal Ratzinger drew on Jesus’ words, “Follow me” to show how the pope
followed Christ from a young man who turned his reading from literature to philosophy and theology through his
years as a priest , bishop, cardinal, and pope. The words within that homily may bring the preacher to reflect on
how we accept the call to follow Christ . Cardinal Ratzinger’s reflection on mercy in that homily will resonate in
this Year of Mercy“ He interpreted for us the paschal mystery as a mystery of divine mercy,” the cardinal said of
the pope.
