APRIL 11, 1979 1979 - 1982 The company begins as Phoenix Advertising, Design and Promotion with first clients WFMR Radio, Milwaukee Magazine, and owner, Doug Coffrin’s, gubernatorial bid. Phoenix focuses on retail advertising for clients Goldi Shoes, Fred Julien Shade Shop, FanDangle ceiling fans, Stein Optical (that’s Charlie singing the jingle), Strenkopf’s, Snow Goose, Bathing at Baxter’s and more. 1983 Phoenix introduces the BRIO Toy Company to America. A Swedenbased company, they specialize in high-end wooden toys for children. We develop advertising for trade publications and consumers, as well as POP displays. 1984 1985 1986 - 1991 1992 Charlie wins the international Parents’ Choice Foundation Award for designing and producing a solid wood pre-schoolers ABC floor puzzle for BRIO. Phoenix is recognized as one of Inc.Magazine’s “Inc.500”- one of the fastest-growing corporations in America, earning us a cover story in USA Today and various other PR. Phoenix focuses on consumer packaged goods, particularly sporting goods, toys and hobbies. Clients include Huffy Sports, Riddell Helmets, Porter Athletic, Wilson Sporting Goods,Worth Fishing, TSR, BRIO Toys, Corolle Dolls, Marklin Trains and Nelson Knitting/Layer One sportswear. Charlie and Jean found Phoenix Marketing Group, Inc., repositioning the agency with a focus on business-to-business marketing communications, and introduce the slogan “Real solutions. Real results.” We also introduce Marklin Model Trains to America. The German company asks us for help in trade and consumer advertising, PR, tradeshows, packaging and POP. We also introduce Sprecher Brewing to Milwaukee by designing and creating their beer label and instituting PR. 1992 1992 - 2004 1994 - 1995 1998 - 1999 Throughout our history... We begin getting involved with non-profit clients, including the Wisconsin Donor Network,Wisconsin’s organ transplant procurement organization. Others will include Easter Seals, the Wisconsin Aids Fund and the St.Vincent de Paul Society. We begin doing work with Aqua-Chem, Cleaver-Brooks, Cooper Power, Generac, Johnson Controls, P&H and Ziegler. Jean serves as President to the Milwaukee Association of Advertising Agencies. Jean serves as President of BMA-Milwaukee, the local Business Marketing Association. ...Phoenix has had an extraordinary opportunity to work with some of the best people – clients, employees and vendors alike.
