Monica Paul Executive Director 2 DALLAS!SPORTS!COMMISSION STAFF Monica Paul, Executive Director 214.571.1057 monica@dallassports.org Serving as the Executive Director for the Dallas Sports Commission, Monica Paul plays an essential role in implementing marketing programs that enhance Dallasí acquisition of sports competitions and events, including solicitation of Olympic, professional, collegiate and amateur sports, events and meetings. Most recently, she was honored by Connect Magazine as being one of the ì 40 Under 40: Class of 2013,î as a leader and innovator in the industry. Paul also works closely with professional leagues, the National Collegiate Athletic Association, Olympic National Governing Bodies and amateur sports federations, selling Dallas as a fi rst≠ class destination for events, conventions and meetings. She liaised with the Super Bowl XLV Host Commi!ee in 2011, served as Executive Director of the Dallas World Cup Bid Commi!ee, served on the NBA All≠ Star 2010 Local Organizing Commi!ee as well as the NCAA Mení s Final Four Local Organizing Commi!ee in 2014 and the College Football Playoff Local Organizing Commi!ee in 2015. Prior to joining the Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau, Paul was the Associate Director of Events at USA Volleyball where she oversaw the international events and marketing for the USA Womení s and Mení s National Teams from 2007≠ 2008. She was also the Director of Competition for the 2007 National Senior Games in Louisville, Kentucky. Prior to the NSGA, Paul was the Director of International and Domestic Events for USA Taekwondo from 2004≠ 2006 and Director of Events, Marketing and Sponsorships for the Junior Volleyball Association of Austin from 2001≠ 2003. Paul joined USA Volleyball in 1997 as the Technical Coordinator for the USA Womení s National Team and was then a part of the USA Delegation for the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games. Paul earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education at UT Austin and a Masterí s degree in Sports Administration from Northern Colorado. She currently serves on the National Senior Games Board of Directors and Executive Commi!ee, the Heart of Dallas Board of Directors, the SMU Athletic Forum Board of Directors, and completed her term on the North Texas LGBT Chamber of Commerce Board. An avid volleyball fan, she remains actively involved in the sport internationally, representing the USA as a Technical Delegate on the NORCECA Federation Commi!ee. Ginger Lively Cade, Sales Director 214.571.1038 ginger@dallassports.org A veteran of the hospitality industry, Ginger Lively≠ Cade has been a part of the Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau for 18 years. Her career in sports began as a student assistant in the athletic department at her alma mater, the University of North Texas, and quickly advanced into the hospitality industry where she gravitated into sales and service. As the Sports Sales Director, her main focus is to a!ract large sporting events and conventions that utilize the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, most of which affect our city hotel community as a citywide event. Cade played in integral role in preparing the Dallas bid for the 2012 Summer Olympics, Super Bowl XLV, NBA All≠ Star Game, NCAA Mení s and Womení s Final Four, Big 12 Championships, Inaugural College Football National Championship Game and numerous other premier youth and Olympic sporting events. She represents the DSC on various commi!ees including the National Association of Sports Commissions, Special Olympics Region 10 and the Dallas Fort Worth Area Sports Alliance. She and her husband, Ras, recently started a custom saddle business and enjoy spending time with their animal family including Labrador Retrievers and English Bulldogs as well as traveling the calf roping and rodeo trail. Larry Kelly, Communications & Marketing Manager 214.571.1085 larry@dallassports.org Larry Kelly joined the Dallas Sports Commission in October, 2014 as Communications & Marketing Manager, bringing to the DSC over 15 years of sports management experience in Dallas. A graduate of the University of New Hampshire, Larryí s background includes nine years with the Dallas Stars as Director of Public Relations and six years with the Texas Rangers as Assistant PR Director. He handles all media relations and marketing efforts for the Dallas Sports Commission and its event rights holders. During his tenure with the Stars, Kellyí s duties included all communications and media relations activities for the NHL club while serving as the main liaison between the Stars and both local and national media. Under his leadership, the Stars were recognized for top PR department and best media guide by the Professional Hockey Writers Association. He also has the honor of having his named engraved on the Stanley Cup from the Starsí 1999 championship. A native of North Quincy, Massachuse!s, he is an avid fan of the New England Patriots. He and his wife, Nane!e, have two children, Caroline and Cameron. 3 DALLAS!SPORTS!COMMISSION STAFF Joe Albsmeyer, Sales Manager 214.571.1366 joe@dallassports.org Currently serving as the Sales Manager, Joe Albsmeyer is approaching fi ve years in Dallas and nine within the industry. A 2006 graduate of Webber International University, he got his professional start in Central Florida before moving to Texas to pursue the Sports Marketing Coordinator position with the Dallas CVB. Albsmeyerí s main focus is on recruiting and supporting all sports events outside of the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center. He has served on the volunteer action commi!ee for Super Bowl XLV, as the lodging liaison for the 2014 NCAA Mení s Final Four and also co≠ chaired the Heart of Dallas Bowl Hospitality Commi!ee. Albsmeyer grew up in central Illinois before moving to Florida to a!end college on a baseball scholarship and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. A background in athletics paired with a desire to connect with people fuels his passion to promote Dallas as the ultimate sports destination to rights holders and fans alike. Joe enjoys representing the Dallas Sports Commission at various industry summits and conventions while pursuing professional development in the Certifi ed Sports Event Executive curriculum. Content with trading in a baseball bat for a set of golf clubs, Albsmeyer relishes free time spent hi!ing the links, grilling with friends or exploring all that Dallas has to offer with his wife and young son. Jake Lease, Event Manager 214.571.1056 jake@dallassports.org Jake Lease brings over 13 years of event planning experience as the Event Manager for the Dallas Sports Commission. A graduate of West Virginia University Institute of Technology, he relocated to Dallas a#er seven years at USA Karate, the National Governing Body for Karate with the US Olympic Commi!ee. He spent his time at USA Karate as the Director of Events, as well as serving as Interim Chief Executive Officer for two years. While there, he grew participation in USA Karate Signature Events by over 200% with a focus on customer experience, event quality enhancement, and utilizing technology to improve quality and efficiency. His event resume includes being the director of over 40 regional, national, and international events. He served as the Operations Director for the Rocky Mountain State Games from 2010≠ 2013 and has consulted for various events throughout the United States and Central & South America. During the 2014 NCAA Mení s Final Four, Lease worked as part of the Volunteer Commi!ee and oversaw the Welcome Desk Program that provided city and event information at Dallasí airports, hotels, and key venues. Leaseí s goal at the Dallas Sports Commission is to use his experience from the planning and execution side of events to ensure that every client has the resources and tools necessary to execute the most successful event possible. Kalen Schou, Event Coordinator 214.571.1059 kalen@dallassports.org Kalen Schou joined the Dallas Sports Commission in 2015 as an Event Coordinator. A native of Jacksonville, Florida, she is a 2014 graduate of Southern Methodist University (SMU) with a degree in Applied Physiology and Sport Management. While at SMU, she interned with the DSC and worked on several events including the 2014 NCAA Mení s Final Four, the USOC Road to Sochi Tour and the USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championship. Schou volunteers her time with Highland Park Young Life and Highland Park Special Olympics. This $420 million facility, that is best known as home to the NBAí s Dallas Mavericks and the NHLí s Dallas Stars, is a multi≠ purpose arena that can transform itself to host a multitude of events. Arena football, gymnastics, WWE events, Motocross, bull riding, fi gure skating, circuses, and major concerts are just a small fraction of events that have been held at the American Airlines Center. The arenaí s unique design and advanced technology allow for quick surface changes, for example, changing the basketball fl oor to an NHL ice rink can be done in less than two hours. Renovations in 2009 allowed the American Airlines Center to have the fi rst 1080 HD video scoreboards in an NBA or NHL arena. It also happens to be one of the largest domed structures in the world. This $1.2 billion football stadium spared no expense to create a luxurious facility. With more than 300 suites, numerous different clubs, a retractable roof that can open and close in 12 minutes, the tallest moveable glass in the world, and one of the worldí s largest scoreboards, this facility is unrivaled by any current stadium. The scoreboard suspends 90 feet over the fi eld and stretches from one 20 yard line to the other. It features four video boards that face in each direction so everyone in the stadium has an easy view of the giant 1080i HD screens. More than just a football stadium, AT&T Stadium is capable of changing surfaces to host a variety of events.
