USMC SGT. Christopher Hrbek Scholarship
Sporting Clay Shoot
You have done the golf outings and bike raffles, now pick up a gun and shoot for a cause…
Friday, August 26, 2016
Sgt. Chris Hrbek was tragically killed on January 14th, 2010 while on combat operations patrol in Helmand Province,
Afghanistan. Sgt. Hrbek was on his 4th combat tour, in the war against terrorism. Chris was also the recipient of
the combat Bronze Star with Valor for his actions during a firefight, when his patrol was ambushed from multiple
directions from an entrenched enemy, on 12/23/2009. Three weeks before his untimely death.
Knowing the “Brotherhood” of the USMC, Sgt. Hrbek didn’t stray far from it. While deploying for his 4th combat
tour, Chris’ list number was called by the FDNY to become one of their newest firefighters. Chris decided to defer
his employment to finish this combat tour and then come home to the “Job”. Chris would then continue the tradition his family started. His step-father, FF Jaymee Hodges has 42 years in the fire service, and Chris’ brothers,
FDNY members, FF Jimmy Hodges of Rescue Co.#3 Bronx, and FF Beau Hodges of Ladder 30 Harlem.
Sgt. Hrbek was also recognized by the New York City Fire Department and made an Honorary FDNY member at
a ceremony in March of 2010 at FDNY headquarters.
Sporting clays is a form of target shooting under realistic hunting conditions. You will have shooting stations along
a wooded/ field trail and have “clay pigeon targets”, “flush” from different locations, angles, heights, and speeds.
If you’re by yourself & want to shoot, or with a friend, don’t worry, we can set you up with a shooting squad.
If you need a shotgun, you can rent one. (VERY LIMITED SUPPLY & ADDITIONAL COST, GUNS CAN BE
SHARED. ANY SHOOTING SQUAD, WILL BE ISSUED NO MORE THEN 2 RENTAL GUNS). We strongly
suggest that your shooting squads share weapons if everyone doesn’t have one. Golf carts are & and can be rented
for the shoot. (CARTS NEED TO BE RESERVED AHEAD OF TIME WHEN REGISTERING FOR THE SHOOT,
AND WILL NOT BE RENTED TO ANYBODY ON THE DAY OF THE SHOOT WITHOUT A
RESERVATION CONFIRMATION! THESE CART RENTALS ARE AN ADDITIONAL COST OVER THE
REGISTRATION FEE.) Think Ahead!
This is a great fundraiser for a “Brother” and a true American Hero!!!!!
