The Crap Shoot At Chimney Rock was the second weekend of April again this year. The stages were written by several regular shooters so we had a good variety to shoot at. This year we had a couple surprise guests for dinner. Mimi Rogers Stewart came and spoke thanking the Double R Bar for being there and all the work we still do for Happy Trails. She accepted our SIX THOUSAND dollar check on behalf of the Happy Trails board of Directors. Also RR Bar # 1 yep our clubs"" founding father""J.R. Holliday AKA Ken Driley was present this year. He presented us with some of the original paper work for from when he and Dusty started working to create the Five Jacks Double R Bar. We all thanked him for our club. We have decided to move the Crap Shoot to the third weekend in 2016 so we are not up against the Cajon Cowboys and see if that makes it more convenient for more people. The Lions have already given the O.K. for the switch. 2015 SASS Western Regional At the Chorro Valley Regulators (CVR) range in San Luis Obispo, CA on Aug. 5th-9th. Let the mixture set for about half an hour, to let the flavors meld. Prepare topping. Combine dry ingredients in large bowl. Mix well and cut in margarine or butter until crumbly. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Pour fruit into 8 x 11 glass baking dish, sprayed with cooking spray. Spread topping evenly over fruit, and bake for 40 to 50 min. ‘till topping is golden brown. For a real treat, serve warm with vanilla ice cream. “FYI” I usually buy a few bags of fresh Ocean-Spray cranberries when they are available and keep them in my freezer. They freeze well and add a really nice tart flavor to recipes like this one. They’re also good in muffins and pancakes. I hope you enjoy the recipe. Susie Chapstick, She Ain’t A cowboy rode into town, stopping at the saloon. He then moved slowly to the back of his horse, lifted its tail, and placed a big kiss were the sun don't shine. He dropped the horse's tail, and stepped up on the boardwalk and aimed towards the swinging doors. "Hold on there, Mister..." said the Sheriff, watching him closely. "Sheriff?" "Did I just see what I think I just saw?" "Reckon you did, Sheriff...I got me some powerful chapped lips..." "And that cures them?" the Sheriff asked. “Nope, but it keeps me from lickin' em. One of the best ranges with good stages. BUT the shooters, they made me feel right at home. Special thanks to them, Pack Rat, Mr. Hawk, Mexican Rob and the rest of Posse 2. Maybe next year a "re-shoot." LOL. Arizona Ric Mark Dittmer; April 16th Thank you, Regulators! I had a great time and enjoyed the stages. Howdy Regulators! We had a great time at the Happy Trails Dinner on Saturday night. Thank you to all that came out and helped. Lady Black Rose has been posting pictures so you all can see what we look like cleaned up!! I had the pleasure of talking with Omar from Alfonso's of Hollywood that night and he told me that the little [video] commercial we made at the range in our town was on YouTube! Go to: https:// www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMzkol6DCeY you need to check it out! More to come later. Pack Rat ALFONSO OF HOLL YWOOD LEATHER COMPANY - ENJOY! May 2nd Happy Trails and Lucerne Valley Lions held the 4th Annual High Desert Shooting Fun Fair. This event is open to the public for free, till they want to shoot any of the many, many guns provided. They pay for the ammunition they use plus some. The proceeds are shared between Happy Trails and the Lions Club. I think this year there were four guns won that day. The RR Bar had around sixty people shoot our stage. I would like to thank them. I do not name names when thanking people because I would skip somebody then I'M in trouble. So thanks guys if you were there helping, you know it. May 16 was the Friends of Happy Trails Banquet. At this event the RR Bar helps in a lot of ways: we run all the games, stand guard over all the prizes and auction items. Our members record and make sure all firearms taken care of properly so they don't leave till the FFL work is done. We also draw the winner for annual prize which was a '73 short rifle in 45 long colt."" Rifle only"" —I hid and put a lock and chain on my case that we used to display the rifle all year. Next year we should have a pair E.M.F. 71/2 357 six shooters. We have started summer hours. We start shooting at 8:00 A.M. That's all I got as always I am two "or more'' days late. Thanks for playing this game with me, Five Jacks OPPORTUNITY DRAWING Tickets on sale for SASS scholarship “Amanda Reckonwith” stopped by Facebook to announce that the raffle tickets to raise funds for SASS scholarships are now ready. $5 each; or, 5 for $20; 30 for $100. The banquet tables were filled this year, meaning a better turnout than in previous years. That’s a good thing. Entertainment was top notch with award winning Red Hot Rhythm Rustlers, who sang old-time cowboy-themed songs that their band’s leader, Marvin O’Dell, had recently written. The live auction, filled with fast-paced action with beautiful auctioneer, Johan Graham, was a favorite part of the evening. The silent auction and drawing prize tables offered a wonderful and wide selection of Western and movie era items from sponsors. Many thanx to our local restaurants that offered numerous dinner certificates. Check out the Happy Trails Foundation web site in June for current winners. ~~ The Editor. The winner of the Double R Bar Regulators sponsored rifle that helped raise hundreds of dollars for the foundation was a local High Desert lady. — That doesn’t happen very often to have the winner seated at the dinner!! Congrats! And a great job by Lady Black Rose for selling tickets all year long. See winner in our group shot below. To honor that distinction, Joel “Dutch” Dorsch, had previously presented the group with two outstanding silver buckles to be used as fund raisers during 2015. For $20 you’ll get 25 tickets, and single tickets are only $1.00. Each buckle — “Top Hand” and “Cattle Baron” — are being offered separately in our annual opportunity drawing. We sell tickets all year. As you can see by the shimmering photos, these are belt buckles worthy of holding up your best rigs. Notes From the Editor --760.646.2661 Racing into summer now, after a long cool Spring. I like that. Now it’s time to brave the heat during your shooting events here and elsewhere.
