Fellow Lions:
The very first thing I want to do is to thank the Sydney Lions Club for hosting a
great district convention. I also want to thank all Lions who attended. We had
203 Lions who signed the attendance book for the meetings and 387 people
who registered. Finally after 23 years we have made it back to Sydney, Cape
Breton for a convention. I hope all had a great time.
Congratulations Tanya Marie Flick, sponsored by the Musquodoboit Valley Lions Club, who won the drug awareness poster contest and Ainslie Pierrynoswki, sponsored by the Sydney Lions Club, who won the district speak-out. A
special thanks to Lion Karel Deneve who did a great job chairing the speak-out.
Clubs are reminded to complete a PU-101 for your new officers and send to
LCI, myself and especially 1st VDG Scott. The deadline for these is May 15th
so, lets have all of our clubs do one this year as these are very important to get
your new passwords for the LCI website.
All clubs should be gearing up to send their new officers to one of our officer
schools in your area. Clubs are reminded to contact PDG Earl Einarson well in
advance and advise him of the numbers of members attending one of these.

I am very pleased to see the Lions of our district have increased their memberships to date; however, we must keep increasing to provide more service to our
communities. As of the end of April, we have a net gain of 40 members, awesome, thank you!
It is very nice to see in our district we have increased our youth population in a
number of our clubs. We need to do this in order to survive into the decades to
come. This not only brings us a future as Lions, but new ideas for the future.
A special thanks to all the new Lions who attended a convention for the first
time.
Quote by Eleanor Roosevelt “With every new day come new strength and
new thoughts “

Hello everyone:
I am sending along our latest edition of the Litterature newsletter. We hope you enjoy reading it. If you have any suggestions
for future issues, feel free to send them along. We always welcome input from our volunteers.

With the nice weather, our groups are planning their spring
cleanups, and some have been completed already. Please remember to contact your local Dept. of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal depot at least a week in advance of your cleanup. It
is a busy time of the year, and some depots can only accommodate a certain number of AAH groups in one weekend, because of
staffing schedules and supplies.
Thanks again for participating in the Adopt-A-Highway program. We appreciate your efforts!

JUST FOR LAUGHS
When I went to Starbucks for coffee they lied. It
wasn't Starbucks, it was four bucks!
There was a captain sailing on the sea during a
battle. His servant came up to him and the captain
said, "bring me my red shirt".
So, the servant did as the captain said.
After that the servant came up to the captain and
said, Why did you say bring me my red shirt"?
The captain said, "Well if i get shot they won't see the
blood.
The next day the servant came up to the captain and
said, "There are 50 ships on the horizon."
The captain said, "Bring me my brown pants."

Bertha was worried about her husband George, so
one day she took him to the doctor's. As the doctor
called George in and looked him over, George began
insisting, "There's nothing wrong with me. I know
because God takes care of me." What do you mean?"
asked the doctor. "Well," George responded, "when I
go to the bathroom he turns the light on and off."
The doctor decided he had better talk to both George
and his wife, so he calls Bertha into the room and
begins to explain, "George says God turns the light on
and off for him when he goes to the bathroom. Is it
true that --" "DAMMIT, George!" Bertha bursts out,
"How many times do I have to tell you to stop peeing
in the fridge?"
A mother took her little boy to church.
While in church the little boy said, “Mommy, I have
to pee.”

The mother said to the little boy, “It’s not appropriate
to say the word ‘pee’ in church. So, from now on
whenever you have to ‘pee’ just tell me that you have
to ‘whisper’.”
The following Sunday, the little boy went to church
with his father and during the service said to his father, “Daddy, I have to whisper.“
The father looked at him and said, “Okay, just
whisper in my ear.”
