PWC pays tribute to Women of Achievement
“Our honorees deserve
industry recognition. They
have done much to crack the
concrete ceiling in a relatively short period of time,”
said Professional Women
in Construction (PWC)
National president Lenore
Janis, addressing a capacity
crowd of industry leaders at
the PWC Salute to Women
of Achievement luncheon
held May 20 at the Yale
Club in NYC.
Noting that the number of women who have
achieved success in a once
all-male bastion continues
to grow, Janis said that this
is a milestone year for PWC
— its 30th anniversary.
Guest of honor Patricia J. Lancaster, FAIA,
president of The Lancaster
Group, whom Janis introduced as “a stalwart
friend to PWC, a woman
of courage and brilliance,”
encouraged women to: trust
themselves and their abilities; build a knowledge base
since “knowledge is power;”
and mentor those beginning
careers.
Michelle Y. Arrington,
senior project manager, the
Hugh L. Carey Battery Park
City Authority (BPCA), said
that she has always been
advised to “Shoot for the
moon, because even if you
don’t make it, you’ll land
among the stars.” Anthony
Peterson, project associate of
the BPCA, presented.
