Dear Partners,
Director and Staffs of Tangan Pengharapan wish you a happy New
Year 2015. May God’s grace be with us throughout this year of
2015.
In our January edition bulletin, we will give you the reports on all
YTP activities throughout 2014. We thank you for your trust and
support in giving love and hope to many people in need.
In December 2014, Tangan Pengharapan installed solar panels in
its Preschool that is also functioned as Tangan Pengharapan Feeding & Learning Center in Weekaraba, a village in rural east Sumba.
For the first time this village saw the light from bulbs illuminating
the school building and its surrounding. This solar panel is helpful
for computer training classes for kids in Weekaraba.
By God’s grace, Tangan Pengharapan may support 4.000 children in
its 40 Feeding & Learning Centers throughout Indonesia.
In this year, 2015, Tangan Pengharapan will build a boarding school
in Merauke, Papua, to allocate children from rural areas in Papua
that they can go to school and learn the truth so they may one day
become a strong, clever, and fearing God generation.
Tangan Pengharapan will also build a LTC (Life Training Center) in Kupang,
East Nusa Tenggara that will function as a training center for the people
in Timor, East Nusa Tenggara and answer their need by giving them skills
needed to develop their villages.
For the first time in January 2015, Tangan Pengharapan will build an integrated health post for toddlers in Timor, ENT. Toddlers and pregnant women’s death rate is hoped to be reduced and they can give birth to healthy
and clever generation for ENT better future.
The building of healthy houses, public sanitary and water tanks for the locals in Timor in East Amanuban, East Timor Tengah, ENT, is on progress.
We have many things to do this year. We thank God for giving us a chance to
do good to our neighbors in need and allowing us to take part in developing
communities in Indonesia, especially in eliminating poverty and building a
bright future for the generation.
Tangan Pengharapan needs partners’ hands to make all the efforts come
true.

Free Medical and Cataract Surgery 2014

In 2014 Tangan Pengharapan held
free medical programs for 2.000
poor patients in East Nusa Tenggara
periodically. This program was assisted
by Tangan Pengharapan’s partners and
volunteers.
This mobile clinic is specially designed for outpatient care. It also can
reach remote areas so more patients
can be reached.
Apart from medical care, Tangan
Pengharapan also held free cataract
The free medical program was held was surgery for the locals. 150 eyeballs
in remote areas and for that reason were cured throughout 2014.

clinic.

Football Competition for 16ers
societies make a strong nation. For that reason, Tangan

Pengharapan gave 160 football uniforms including balls to 10
teams of football players aged 16 from many villages in East Nusa
Tenggara. This event was meant to search for good football players
to make this nation famous.
For the implementation of this football competition, PETROTEKNO,
a partner of Tangan Pengharapan would not waste the chance. Football uniforms, shoes, and balls were given freely to all teams. Let’s
support our football teams.

Healthy Houses, Public Sanitary and Water Tanks
of the locals in East Nusa Tenggara live in round shaped houses
M ost
made from dry tall grass and have no windows. The only thing exists is
a small door used for entrance and exit. In the small room, they always store
corns and do cooking. The air gets humid because of no air ventilation. In
the same room, they sleep on ground covered by rugged clothes.
Tangan Pengharapan built 6 healthy homes and public sanitary in 2014. Tangan Pengharapan also built 8 ferrocement water tanks and wells that the
locals would not have any difficulty in getting water during dry season.

Disaster Response

plates meet and it makes the country prone to natural disasters such as
earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
Tangan Pengharapan with its Disaster Response program alleviated the
suffering of 1.520 families affected
by disasters in 6 sites, i.e., in Jakarta,
Sinabung, Manado, Maumere, Kelud,
and Pati.
Long dry season in East Nusa Tenggara caused clean water scarcity. Local
people had to walk about 4 kms just
to get some water from the spring.
It of course wasted a lot of time and
energy. Realizing about this condition, Tangan Pengharapan distributed 2.460 pcs of 20 liter jerrycans
to local people. When rainy season
comes, they can use those jerry cans
to collect water for their needs.

Besides, Tangan Pengharapan gave
200 pcs of toys, 2.000 schoolbags,
4.000 shoes, and 12.000 Joykids and
Truth books. All of those items were
intended to increase children’s creativity and faith.

Tangan Pengharapan also built a life skill
training center. Here kids and societies
can develop their skills for a better life.
In every Feeding & Learning Center, kids
can learn how to operate portable computer units donated by PETROTEKNO.
Knowing the need of computer skill,
PETROTEKNO through Yayasan Tangan
Pengharapan gave 63 units of portable
computers.
To prepare children for better future,
Tangan Pengharapan gives various skill
trainings in its School of Eve, including
English, Computer skill, batiks making,
weaving, tailoring, and carpentry.
