Good morning Guy,
Thank you for submitting your application early for Mammoth Reggae. Unfortunately
we have changed some of the questions and format for this year’s application. The
one that you submitted is from last year. Please look over the attached document
and resubmit your application to info@mammothlakesrecreation.org for the 2016
funding cycle. A reminder, please turn in the corrected application before November
6, so we have time to address any questions we might have. The Allocation Committee will review and recommend funding on November 9, and
then submit their recommendations to the rest of the Mammoth Lakes Recreation
Board of Directors on November 16.
Thank you.
Best,
Lesley-Anne Hoxie

Mammoth Reggae Festival
Dates: July 22-23, 2016
Project Description
Mammoth Reggae Festival is an annual event bringing Reggae and World Music to the Eastern Sierras.
Our ultimate goal is to create a successful destination event, combining arts, culture and music that
surround similar style events. The event will also bring local vendors, artists, and restaurants.
Just like the Town of Mammoth Lakes, Mammoth Reggae is all about enjoying life outdoors. Mammoth
Reggae is the perfect Recreational activity for people’s amusement, enjoyment, and pleasure.
Mammoth Reggae is a positive combination of music and culture further adding to the Town of
Mammoth’s incredible natural draw.
Target Market & Marketing Plan
Our marketing campaign includes local print, radio, social media, and co-op efforts with partners and
bands. With strategic partnerships already established, including The Sheet and KMMT as co-sponsors,
we look forward to working with them as well as other potential co-sponsors in 2016.
In addition to targeting locals and visitors already in Mammoth, we plan to target the communities of
Las Vegas, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, and Orange County. Part of our marketing include coop efforts with participating bands. We are looking to hire better bands for 2016 thus enabling us to
reach a larger fan base and create a destination place for more fans. California loves reggae music and
listed here are few long running reggae shows in California: Reggae on the River (Humboldt, CA), Sierra
Nevada World Music Festival (Boonville, CA), and the Ragga Muffin Festival (in LA, San Diego, and San
Francisco.)
Long-term Benefits to the Community and Economic Impact
We are seeking to build Mammoth Reggae into a stable event that will become a permanent part of the
Event Calendar consisting of high quality entertainment.
By growing the event and attracting better talent, Mammoth Reggae will draw wider crowds from
further distances. An event such as Mammoth Reggae, will help in creating a positive impact on the
economy of Mammoth by further adding to the allure of the Mammoth Lakes’ visitor experience.
Attracting higher levels and higher quality bands, Mammoth Reggae will draw more people to
Mammoth, and give them more incentive to return.
