Christmas Eve Dinner and Christmas Day are the most important family events of the year. Christmas Eve is on 24th December. Christmas Day is on 25th December. 31st December. We usually have dinner at home with our family or friends or we go to a restaurant or to a party. According to the Bible, when Jesus was born three magic men came from foreign countries to pay homage to him and give him presents (gold, frankincense and myrrh). Their names are not mentioned in the Bible, but in Spain they are known as Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar. (AKA: The Magic Kings) In Spain, children (and adults) look foward to their arrival on 6th January. Christmas school holidays are from 23rd December till 8th January. Bank holidays are 25th December, 1st January and 6th January. SECRET SANTA (THE INVISIBLE FRIEND) This is a common game between groups of friends, colleagues at work, classmates, members of a family, etc…during Christmas time. We write our name on a piece of paper and put it into a bag. Each person takes a piece of paper and becomes the invisible friend of the person whose name is on the paper. Then we fix a day to exchange presents. Some carols: ( click on the image to listen) This is the most popular carol in The Canary Islands .
