SHINING STARS
It was a beautiful evening to celebrate with each other at the Shining Stars
Recognition Banquet on April 24 at Hilton Chicago/Northbrook. Celebrating
the successes of NSSRA participants, friends, families and supporters and
enjoying time together with old and new friends makes this annual event very
special. Over 360 enjoyed a cocktail hour with music by the Deerfield High
School orchestra, formal dinner, and presentation of more than10 different
awards.

This year NSSRA Foundation, who has been the sole sponsor of the event
for several years, sent a simple plea for additional sponsorship and were
overwhelmed with the outpouring of support from local families and
businesses and brought in $26,000.
Please join us in recognizing everyone who joined NSSRA Foundation in
sponsoring the Shining Stars Banquet and providing an unforgettable
evening!
ENRICHED LIFESTYLES FOR ADULTS (ELA) FUN RUN!
The ELA participants hosted their second annual Fun Run on Friday,
May 22, Memorial Day weekend. The event ran smoothly and the
group enjoyed hosting their families, friends and members of the
community. With 30 registrants in 2014, the event grew this year
with 63 registrants joining ELA staff and participants on the run.
Special thanks to our sponsors Caryn Schuman and Linda Waite,
who provided t-shirts for the runners, and Kay Brink who provided
hats and water bottles.
This year’s event was widely supported by several companies,
including KIND Bars, Pinot’s Palette, Chicago North Shore
Convention & Visitors Bureau, Deerfield Park District, DeerfieldBannockburn Fire Department and Wintrust Banks. Several donated items added to the event, allowing every
participant the opportunity to take something home. ELA participants had a large part in preparing for the event
and enjoyed making healthy snacks and signs.

and programs offered by NSSRA.
