Calgary Area is in the process of upgrading campsites, including Westover. The recent surge in interest for girls and Guiders to camp and canoe at Westover Lake has drawn attention to the sad state of some of the older canoes. If you have a canoe that is in good shape, stable enough for beginner canoeists, and just taking up space in your shed or garage, give us a call. We will gladly take it off your hands, and give it new life at Westover Lake. Contact Susan Ryan at ryan.susan@shaw.ca or 403-281-8211 Canoe repair estimates Do you know how to repair fibreglass canoes? We have a project just waiting for you. Several of our Westover canoes could be brought up to scratch with some TLC, that includes gunnel repair, seat replacement, and maybe some fiberglass patching. If you have the time and energy, and you want to make some Guiders and girls very happy, give us a call. You can come out to Westover with us some fine day this spring and check them out. If you think you are up for the challenge, we will get the canoes to you for repair. Contact Susan Ryan at ryan.susan@shaw.ca or 403-2818211 . . . and Westover needs new paddles too The canoe paddles at Westover are somewhat the worse for wear. They are over 30 years old and the tips have been exposed to water over a few of those winters. If you have a paddle or two that you want to send to GGC, just let us know. We will come and get it, and give it new life in the hands of Guides, Pathfinders and Rangers at Westover. Contact Susan Ryan at ryan.susan@shaw.ca or 403-281-8211.
