DISCUSSION WITH ALGERIAN CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE
President of Biskra Chambers of Commerce of Algeria and its Director General called on the Malaysian Ambassador recently aimed at
strengthening the existing bilateral trade relations and exploring new
business and economic opportunity between the two countries.
Biskra is one of the region in the country that is famous for its dates
and also known as the gateway going to Sahara. Both sides would
be following up on the discussion for the mutual benefits of the Algerian and Malaysian private sectors or companies.

MEETING WITH DEWAN PERNIAGAAN MELAYU, PUTRAJAYA
Four-member delegation of Dewan Perniagaan Melayu Malaysia Putrajaya
DPMMP was in Algiers aimed at exploring and possibly forging business potential in the areas such as tour and tourism, education and training, halal products and construction of public
housing. Apart from meeting the potential business partners, the members of the Malaysian delegation had a discussion with the Embassy officials during the visit and were given a briefing on the business environment and current development.

INTERNATIONAL CULTURAL LUNCH FESTIVAL
In support of the diplomatic corp in Algiers, PERWAKILAN together
with the Embassy of Malaysia participated in the international lunch
festival. Apart from promoting Malaysian culture through culinary delights, the event helped foster better and closer ties among the participating members of the diplomatic corp and the host government
as well as the people of Algeria. Malaysian table which among other
served nasi lemak, chicken rendang, curry-puff (karipap) and tehtarik attracted a large crowd and ran out of food in matter of minutes
of opening for sale. The proceeds or money obtained from the activity went to the charity organization of Algeria.

FAREWELL LUNCH FOR AMBASSADOR OF NIGERIA
Farewell lunch was hosted by the Ambassador of Malaysia in honor
of the departing Nigerian Ambassador. Several colleagues of the
diplomatic corp were presence to bid him bon voyage as he was
leaving to take up his future assignment back in Abuja. There were
good exchange of information over lunch regarding the working life
of the diplomatic community such as the movement of senior officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Algeria and arrivals as well
as departures of the ambassadors serving in the capital. We wished
him all the best and hope he will continue to be friend of Malaysia.

VISIT BY HE BAN KI MOON, UN SECRETARY GENERAL
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon visited the Western Saharan
refugee camp during the visit to Algeria. He met with Sahrawi refugees and held discussion with Algerian President and Foreign Minster as well as Foreign Affairs officials. UN SG addressed the members of diplomatic corp and Algerian officials during his talk at the
capital - Algiers. His talk focused on the need to continue providing
the humanitarian assistance to the refugees while hoping to find a
final and sustainable solution to Western Sahara.
