Jim Yamouridis
BIO
Jim Yamouridis formed The Stream, a Melbourne group and released two albums, Origin (2000) and
You, My Friend (2002) both co-produced by Conway Savage (The Bad Seeds). His songs have been
interpreted on stage and on record by artists such as PJ Harvey singing The Rider and Conway
Savage recording The Cross.
In 2002 Jim Yamouridis moved to France where he recorded his first solo album The Name of This
Place, released to critical acclaim in 2005.
His next album Travelling Blind was produced and arranged by Seb Martel (guitarist with French
sensation ‘M’, Salif Keita, Las Ondas Marteles & Charlotte Gainsbourg, to name a few) and released
in France in 2008, once again critically acclaimed. Jim was accompanied by outstanding musicians,
including Camille on backing vocals for the title track.
Yamouridis performs extensively in France. He has opened for touring artists such as Belle and
Sebastian, Blonde Redhead, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Lucky Peterson, Melissa Leveaux, the Young Gods

Darc, Moriarty and Emily Loiseau.
He has toured Ireland with Conway Savage and prepared a special evening of rembetika music
(Greek blues) with leading exponent Nicolaos Syros (Mikis Theodorakis, Paris Philharmonic
Orchestra) for the 2008 Europavox festival.

« Indispensable for lovers of peaceful ballads, melancholic melodies and vocal elegance”
Rock’n’folk
“In two years, Jim Yamouridis has won many hearts including Seb Martel’s who uses at best his multi
instrumentalist arranging and producing skills : the result is a complete success. Ten songs composing a stateless
journey of rare delicacy” Musiq
“In his second album, Yamouridis takes us to even more crepuscular countries, into pubs where smoking is still
legal…. A music for chambers fond of silences, crossed by
a bass clarinet, fed by country and folk influences,
where Jim Yamouridis plants his talent for song writing.”
Libération
“Minimum folk for maximum emotion” Magic
“Highway song-writing, strolling lightly along landscapes of America, the Balkans, Mali, Mediterranean or
Latin lands : a personal geography, reinvented and adjusted to a scale of boundless intimacy”
Les Inrockuptibles.
“Ten tracks alternating lightness and gravity with a beautiful consistency. “ Longueur d’ondes.
“Irresistible sensitivity delivered by a song writer with an outstanding voice… assuredly one of the best albums
of the year. Le Mague
“No hype, no imitation : graceful melodies, delicate arrangements, evocative power of the voice. For
Yamouridis’ second album, the perfect touch of Seb Martel’s arrangements soberly highlight moments of
passing reverie or contemplation. For connoisseurs of authentic music.”
