CROW River Cleanup - Crow River Organization of Water
2015
CROW River Cleanup
The Crow River Cleanup Day has evolved and grown over the last decade. The Crow
River Organization of Water (CROW) is a 10 County Joint Powers Organization aimed
at preserving and protecting the Crow River and its tributaries. Over the course of twelve
years of cleanup events approximately 3,091volunteers removed over 66.1 tons of trash
from 458.6 miles of shoreline on the Crow River and its tributaries. We are very proud
of our volunteers and sponsors, who have collectively served 10,798 hours, without their
determination and tremendous effort, this project would not be successful.
Brownton/Stewart
26 enthusiastic Brownton/Stewart Girl Scouts collected 200 pounds from an Adopt-a-Highway section and
three mile stretch of Buffalo Creek, which is a major tributary to the South Fork Crow River. These brave girl
scouts found containers full of spiders, cigarette butts, tire rims, refrigerator drawer, and much more.
Biscay
In their 10th consecutive
year, five hardworking
Biscay volunteers collected
250 pounds from 1 mile of
shoreline along the South
Fork Crow River. Look at that
collection of pipes!
Beebe Lake/Hanover
Nine volunteers from the Beebe Lake
Improvement Association collected 20 pounds of
trash from one mile around the lake. Thanks for
all of your hard work!

An astounding 32 volunteers found
200 pounds of recyclables, pink
insulation, and tires in a 2 mile stretch.
Each person was out for 4 hours and
definitely made a positive impact on the
environment.

found 200 pounds of strewn and hidden rubbish. With a collective 200 hours, this
wonderful group made a difference in securing the beauty of this green space!
Hutchinson
Even in their 12th year, this amazing group continues to
make great finds. These volunteers collected 1,440 pounds of
tires, traffic control signs, a bike, a box spring, and a range of
other recyclables and garbage. The stewardship exhibited by
the Hutchinson crew is helping protect the South Fork Crow
River in immeasurable ways.

stretch of the North Fork Crow River. They found a few
treasures, including treated 4 x4 lumber that is going to
find a new home What a wonderful and useful way to
care for the environment!
Let’s Clean Up The Crow!
Forest City
In their 9 years as part of the North Fork Crow River cleanup, the Forest City group
continues to shine. Twelve eager volunteers searched high and low for 6 miles and
collected 80 pounds of litter. It’s great to see the pounds of trash decrease over the
years!

.5 miles around the Mill Pond area! We’re sure it’s looking better thanks to your
efforts!
Paynesville

gathered and collected 250 pounds of metal and tires from .5 mile of the North Fork Crow
River. This was their 11th year in action and they have done a fantastic job protecting some of
our favorite aquatic habitats.
