2015 CROW River Cleanup The Crow River Cleanup Day has evolved and grown over the last decade. The Crow River Organization of Water (CROW) is a 10 County Joint Powers Organization aimed at preserving and protecting the Crow River and its tributaries. Over the course of twelve years of cleanup events approximately 3,091volunteers removed over 66.1 tons of trash from 458.6 miles of shoreline on the Crow River and its tributaries. We are very proud of our volunteers and sponsors, who have collectively served 10,798 hours, without their determination and tremendous effort, this project would not be successful. Brownton/Stewart 26 enthusiastic Brownton/Stewart Girl Scouts collected 200 pounds from an Adopt-a-Highway section and three mile stretch of Buffalo Creek, which is a major tributary to the South Fork Crow River. These brave girl scouts found containers full of spiders, cigarette butts, tire rims, refrigerator drawer, and much more. Biscay In their 10th consecutive year, five hardworking Biscay volunteers collected 250 pounds from 1 mile of shoreline along the South Fork Crow River. Look at that collection of pipes! Beebe Lake/Hanover Nine volunteers from the Beebe Lake Improvement Association collected 20 pounds of trash from one mile around the lake. Thanks for all of your hard work! Cokato An astounding 32 volunteers found 200 pounds of recyclables, pink insulation, and tires in a 2 mile stretch. Each person was out for 4 hours and definitely made a positive impact on the environment. Delano Nice Job!! Sixteen diligent volunteers gathered 80 pounds of unsightly, polluting garbage from .75 miles of the South Fork Crow River. Your efforts are greatly appreciated and your heart for making the Earth a healthier place. Hanover Sixteen eager volunteers collected approximately 200 pounds of garbage from the shoreline of the Crow River. Collectively the group spent 66 hours finding bottles, computer monitors, floatables, and much more. Humphrey Arends Memorial Park - Waverly A whopping 35 volunteers came out to Humphrey Arends Park in Wright County and found 200 pounds of strewn and hidden rubbish. With a collective 200 hours, this wonderful group made a difference in securing the beauty of this green space! Hutchinson Even in their 12th year, this amazing group continues to make great finds. These volunteers collected 1,440 pounds of tires, traffic control signs, a bike, a box spring, and a range of other recyclables and garbage. The stewardship exhibited by the Hutchinson crew is helping protect the South Fork Crow River in immeasurable ways. Manannah This duo collected 20 pounds of junk from a 4 mile stretch of the North Fork Crow River. They found a few treasures, including treated 4 x4 lumber that is going to find a new home What a wonderful and useful way to care for the environment! Let’s Clean Up The Crow! Forest City In their 9 years as part of the North Fork Crow River cleanup, the Forest City group continues to shine. Twelve eager volunteers searched high and low for 6 miles and collected 80 pounds of litter. It’s great to see the pounds of trash decrease over the years! New London/Spicer This enthusiastic group of nine volunteers collected 100 pounds of litter from .5 miles around the Mill Pond area! We’re sure it’s looking better thanks to your efforts! Paynesville While floating canoes and cleaning up the shoreline, 26 Trail Guards and family members gathered and collected 250 pounds of metal and tires from .5 mile of the North Fork Crow River. This was their 11th year in action and they have done a fantastic job protecting some of our favorite aquatic habitats. We make the world we live in and shape our own environment Orison Swett Marden Rockford Boy Scout Troop 3538 made their mark on the North Fork Crow River by removing garbage and litter of all shapes and sizes. Some a bit dangerous! Butcher knives, fork, and scissors galore. In addition to some other refuse, volunteers scored when they found two antique bottles! Saint Michael Nine thoughtful scouts and volunteers collected garbage and recyclables from 3 miles of the Crow River. With a total of 31 volunteer hours, the group collected 90 pounds. Thank you for your service! Watertown This energetic crew of 16 volunteers, spent a total of 48 hours protecting the South Fork Crow from pollution. Within a 2 mile stretch, the group collected 160 pounds. FYI- toilets are not considered native habitat! Great Work!! A Big Thank You To Our Sponsors!
