We are moving through rapidly changing times. Information and
technology are growing at an exponential rate- faster than ever
before in the history of humankind. Even the meaning of
‘knowledge’ has shifted from ‘being able to remember’ to ‘being
able to find and use it’. No longer is education synonymous with
literacy and numeracy. Education is now about building the
required skills to be able to adapt to the times.
DLF Family!
DAR
DLF Public School has now been recognized as one of the Top 10
Most Respected Schools of India. This year, we have also been
conferred the British Council International School Award 2011-14 for
building international mindedness through our specially integrated
curriculum. As well as the International School Award 2012 from the
University of Cambridge, UK for significantly contributing to education
and introducing international English language systems.
Congratulations,

I
t’s been a rewarding session 2011-12, in more ways than one!
Last year, we wanted to be the best school in the region;
this year we have reinforced that belief by winning more
prestigious accolades! Last year, we said we were preparing for
the 21st century; this year we have stepped right into it!

“No foreign land this,
no unfamiliar expanse,
but an isle of warmth
and friendliness”
DLF World School is a futuristic
school with a smart amalgamation
of world class infrastructure &
facilities, 21st Century curriculum
driven with latest technology, and
a team of caring souls that aims to
inculcate new generation thinking
skills in students.
The school begins its first session
from April 2012. As always, the
larger DLF objective is not to
launch another educational initiative,
but to create a good society.
At DLF, we are trying to keep pace with all these developments,
but in our own special way.
We are integrating ICT into the curriculum, while providing our
students experiences that relate to real life contexts. We are
inducting new technology, but taking care that it works only as an
enabler - as a tool that empowers, not overpowers. We are putting
in place systems that will define a 21st century school, but
ensuring that it has a soul- that is, it is punctuated by moral
purpose and a societal objective. Every child, every individual has
to make a difference to the larger world around them… because
we are collectively accountable for the society we create.
Through it all, we remain committed to ‘preparing our students not
simply for work alone but for life’. We emphasize that being good
is better than being smart, and that intelligence by itself is not
enough; it must be accompanied by ethics and character.
Even as our quest for excellence continues, I want to express my
gratitude to all our stakeholders who are part of the DLF family.
To you, we attribute the credit for every accolade that we win. I
thank you, our esteemed parents, our inspiring teachers & staff,
and our management for making us the top-flight school that we are.
May the years ahead see us touch new pinnacles of success…

completing real
life tasks such as
finding
news,
gathering news,
ordering news,
writing
news,
editing and finally
broadcasting.
And out came the

DLF Public School was a privileged host to Virasat 2011 - an
exclusive Kathak Recital by the internationally acclaimed
Kathak exponent -- Mahua Shankar on November 19, 2011
under the auspices of SPIC MACAY. The event provided
enriching education; presenting a holistic vision of Indian

Life-skill sessions: helping
DLFites grow as individuals
The unique life-skills programme of the school has been a
favourite with each class. It helps inculcate value behaviour in
the students, and encourages them to manage self and think
critically. DLFites gain real life values and identify their
strengths through many well designed activities. The
programme also focuses on significant domains such as
‘Global Etiquette’ and Public Speaking. It helps DLFites
improve on social health, gain emotional literacy and develop
critical thinking. With this, the school has adopted a holistic,
reform- oriented approach to education wherein young minds
learn how to think as opposed to what to think.
Navigating EVERY DLFite
through the complex process
of college planning
This unique programme has added a new dimension to our life
skills programme. Each student at DLF now gets an opportunity to plan their college education 2 years in advance. Each
DLF ites is systematically led through an individualized
programme and a ‘best fit’ career plan with a safety net of more
options is planned for each.

‘Learners on the Way’ programme is based on the assumptionTogether everybody achieves more. The team comprises a
Mother Teacher, Coordinator, Counsellor and Parents who work in
complete synchronization. Each individual is analysed and treated
as a case study and remedial process is tailor made to suit
individual’s difficulties and learning styles.
The results are for everyone to see with 203 ‘Learners on the Way’

Mindspark--- A highly
successful initiative
Two years ago, we introduced the concept of Personalized
Learning and implemented with Mindspark- that ignited a
passion for Mathematics by offering self-paced learning at
each individual’s comfort and interest. We had a wonderful
outcome with almost a 100% pass result in Mathematics
across classes IV-VI. Children now want to study Mathematics
themselves without being forced by parents and teachers. The
growing engagement of children and the increased success
rate can be clearly seen through the statistics below:

Individualized Learning
Programme-Detailed Assessment
The school has launched a Detailed Assessment Programme
for classes III-V to address the individualized learning needs of
each learner. It:
1 Assists students with regular tests to identify individual
learning gaps and learning misconceptions.
2 Assists teachers to identify the learning gaps within 24 hrs.
3 Offers a remedial plan for every individual learner.
The efficacy of the unique programme lies around assessment
of learning gaps of each individual learner and personal
remedial suggestions for each of them.

Like the Grand Banyan Tree!
Under the newly launched SSR Programme (Student Social
Responsibility), which involves students working for social
causes, the DLFites of Community Club (Class VIII) along with
200 schools from across India joined hands in one of the
biggest paper recycling projects -- The Grand Banyan Project,
an initiative of the British Council in collaboration with the NGO,
I Love My Mother Earth (ILMME) Foundation. The project had
two significant highlights. One was the ‘Collection of waste
paper to produce notebooks’ for disadvantaged children. The
other was the conduct of a ‘Cleanest Day Drive, for which class
V DLFites adopted their School neighbourhood area and
worked with the help of school guild. Eco champs of school
surveyed the area and interacted with people and roped in the
RWA members and Nagar Nigam officials to tackle this
problem. The idea was to create awareness amongst people,
understanding the reasons behind such indiscriminate dumping by residents and provide people with a hygienic environment to show them the power of the mantra of I CAN DO. The
result is out there for everyone to see- A clean and developed

Leone, South Africa and will travel through 26 countries including India; where it will be hosted by our school from April 10-13,
2012. This is a step further to DLFites’ commitment to malaria
prevention and multi-faith action!

The light of understanding
Shining on the elderly, and on the
environment!
Always determined to do something good and meaningful,
DLFites took Deepawali as a bright opportunity to make both
Nature and the elderly happy at the same time! For the aged,
they collected and contributed a huge amount of Rs. 2,55,000
to Helpage India to support their work for senior citizens. And
by resolving to minimize use of polluting crackers, they lent a
hand in protecting the environment. Now, that’s what we call a
caring and sharing Diwali!

A ‘vote’ of confidence for all
that our students can do!
The residents of Rajinder Nagar, Sahibabad witnessed a
spectacle of social duty and responsibility by the enthusiastic
DLFites. Our students may not be old enough to vote yet, but
that did not deter them from making an invaluable contribution
to society. They met the citizens of the area, and encouraged
them to exercise their very important fundamental right -- the
Right to Vote. These young change agents said they would be
delighted if they had been able to inspire even a few people to
exercise their franchise!

Roll out the silver carpet -it’s Grandparents’ Day!
‘Happy Health’ check-ups, fun-filled activities, ‘Catch Grandparents’ Smile’ competition, all made the grandparents feel
elated, proud, and touched! After all, it was no ordinary
occasion, but DLFites celebrating everything that Grandpas
and Grandmas stand for!

Entrepreneurs sighted on
Children’s Day!
It was a unique opportunity to learn what Project Execution was
all about! On Children’s Day, DLF ites presented The
Entrepreneurial Mela. The key was that it was the students who
completely ‘ran the show’! This included planning & budgeting,
deciding on the stalls to be put up, setting up the fun rides,
managing the operations, and even handling the fiscal aspects
of funds & profit management! In fact, they learnt the art of
utilizing available resources optimally… and acted quite like
grown-ups on Children’s Day!

Nurturing Business Tycoons
@ DLFest
DLFest, the unique initiative conceptualized two years back
was planned this year as Com-Congregatio, a Commerce
Festival that created a stimulated environment to help students
acquire hands-on skills for handling real-life challenges and
situations in the current cyclone of globalization.
Participants from various schools vied for grand prizes like
DVDs, cash awards and certificates -- both for themselves
and their schools.
Strolling through a colourful
tunnels – ‘Colour Days’
at DLF Kindergarten
Little DLFites gave a refreshingly happy and positive twist to
the famous slogan "Yellow, Yellow, Dirty Fellow", and came out
with novel ideas not just to remember the colour but also to
make Yellow Colour day memorable! The little one’s celebrated
blue colour day, orange colour day, red colour day and green
colour day. At DLF it’s fun learning colours!

The Inter-House Carol Singing Competition became a very
special affair, with two very distinguished guests and
seasoned musicians on the Judgement Panel. Ms. Nadya
Valeyrevna, with a Master’s in Piano & Choir Conduction from
Moscow State University of Art & Culture, was joined by Mr.
Tony John, a lead guitarist and vocalist of the Gospel
Symphonic Black Metal band called ‘Redemption Fire’. Their
presence lent an air of professionalism to the competition.
Subjects celebrated!
Great minds together!
Our Principal, Mrs. Seema Jerath, was elected as the
Vice-Chairperson of the Sahodya School Complex, Ghaziabad Chapter. The body is a newly formed cluster of diverse
schools, created in December 2011 that comprises 9 founder
members from various educational institutions of the area. The
group is committed to working towards the common goal of
sharing educational experiences and setting benchmarks of
quality to benefit all the stakeholders -- the students, parents,
teachers, and the managements. Thus, it is hoped to contribute to developing the community at large. With great minds
involved, the Chapter looks ahead with confidence!
“Scientific Concepts Exhibition” culminated the Science Month
with spanking new concepts designed by the Little Einsteins
judged by eminent educationalists like Dr. R. K. Agarwal, HOD,
Chemistry, Lajpat Rai Post-Graduate College, Dr. Jaya Singh,
Dr. Tej Narayan Shivpuru and Mrs. Seema Behl. Application of
Concepts in Mathematics found their way through ‘Maths
Month’. On the same lines- Hindi Divas during Hindi Month was
graced by Acharya Muni Dr. Lokesh Ji, founder of Ahinsa Vishwa
Bharti Foundation and English Month too well synchronized
learning with its application in real life situations. Now, could there
be a better way to celebrate learning
For
our Special
Parents!
Brunch with DLFites
DLFites of Gourmet Club served a platter of exotic dishes like
“Virgin Mojito, Hungry Caterpillar, Mocktails, Salads”… which
many of their parents had tasted for the first time as they invited their
parents to a foodie session- Brunch with DLFites. It was a treat to
the five senses of the parents who indulged their taste-buds in this
culinary fete. Parents were swept off the carpet and remarked
“Thanks to the royal hospitality showered.” Beware of the budding
Sanjeev Kapoors and Tarla Dalals from the house of DLF!

Parents and DLFites Share the
Happiness of Feel Proud Day
Parents felt immensely delighted and proud to see their little
children walking up to the stage to receive their respective
Tokens of Honour – in the form of the wonderful ‘Feel Proud
Card’. The recognition made DLFites believe in themselves
even more, and re-enforced the idea that being ‘good’ is far
more important than being ‘smart’

Learning through real life
exploration
What if children can study a subject by living it! DLFites
experience a whole new genre of hands-on education through
a thoughtful integration of subjects with the physical world.
They explored ‘Democratic Rights’ by actually organizing
Pre-election Awareness Campaigns; appreciated ‘Climate’ by
visiting the Metrological Department of Delhi; explored ‘Child
Rights’ by participating in the ‘Global Vote’ organized by
WCPRC, the world’s largest Child Rights Protection Organization; and comprehended ‘Sources of Energy’ better by closely
monitoring the models at Mahatma Gandhi Institute for
Combating Climate Change in Delhi!

Educa
At DLF, our focus on improving learning extends to the
continuing development of our wonderful teachers as well!
These digital migrants are being transformed into 21st century
empowered teachers through corporate training and orientation programmes, seminars, workshops, membership to
online global educational initiatives, and training by CBSE and
other leading educational institutions. We seek not just to
enrich individual teachers, but by doing so, enhance ‘capacity
building’ at the school.Since parents complement the
teacher’s role in stimulating a child’s growth and development,
DLF simultaneously conducts many workshops, seminars
and discussion for them as well.
