It’s Labor Day weekend and I am running
around getting things done as I realize
summer has slipped away!! Daffodil
catalogs have started to arrive in my
mailbox and I must turn my attentions to
Fall. The Maryland Daffodil Society’s
Spring Show had a tremendous number of
blooms on the benches, 1,779!! Over 100
more than last year. The venue, the Shops
at Kenilworth, had a sea of yellow on the
top
level
and
fabulous
artistic
arrangements and the well-entered
photography show downstairs.
Next year, our Spring Daffodil Show will
be held again at the Shops at
Kenilworth on Tuesday, April 19 –
Wednesday, April 20, 2016. The floor
will be open from 3pm – 8pm on Monday,
4/18 for early set up. We will feature an
Artistic Division and Photography Show
as well. More information about those
sections is highlighted in this newsletter.
Our fall MDS Meeting will be help on
Saturday, October 17, 2015 at the
Baltimore Ag Center, 1114 Shawan Rd.,
Cockeysville, MD. We will start at
10:30am with our Business Meeting,
followed by a speaker and will conclude
with our Bulb Sale.
As an added
attraction to our October Meeting, we will
be raffling a wonderful selection
of daffodil related items including,
Assorted Daffodil Bulbs, Daffodil Flower
Caddy, Bulb Digger, Daffodil Bulb Auger,
Beautiful Vintage Danecraft Sterling
Silver Daffodil Brooch, Lovely Daffodil
Earrings
in

I happen to love Daffodils…..when we
think about things that make us happy,
daffs do it for me. I would encourage all
of you out there who feel the same way
to dig up a friend (hehe) and bring them
along to our meeting or the daffodil show
next spring.
We need to see our
membership stay strong and viable, and
GROW!! Help us make this happen!

It’s fall so in addition to thinking about all the daffodil bulbs you are going to plant, please think about the MDS and
support this small but hard working group by paying your dues. In the last fiscal year (October 1st thru September
30th) we had 78 individual members and 23 garden clubs join the MDS.
The MDS cannot survive without members like you that support the group by attending the fall meeting, sending in
your dues and entering blooms in the spring show. Volunteers are always needed to make sure our show runs
smoothly. Let us know how you would like to help at the show on the dues form below.
