Thirty-Third Sunday of Ordinary Time
OPENING HYMN (#642)
1.
Love divine, all loves excelling,
Joy of heav’n to earth come down!
Fix in us your humble dwelling,
All your faithful mercies crown.
Jesus, source of all compassion,
Love unbounded, love all pure;
Visit us with your salvation,
Let your love in us endure.
2.
Finish then your new creation,
Pure and spotless, gracious Lord,
Let us see your great salvation
Perfectly in you restored.
Changed from glory into glory,
Till in heav’n we take our place,
Till we sing before the almighty
Lost in wonder, love and praise.

SECOND READING
Hebrews 10: 11 – 14, 18
Brothers and sisters: Every priest stands daily
at his ministry, offering frequently those same
sacrifices that can never take away sins. But
this one offered one sacrifice for sins, and took
his seat forever at the right hand of God; now he
waits until his enemies are made his footstool.
For by one offering he has made perfect forever
those who are being consecrated. Where there is
forgiveness of these, there is no longer offering
for sin.
The word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.

Let’s talk.
Those are good
words. They call on
us to put our heads
together to solve
problems, to build
things up, to create
good things. Let’s
stress that word
“together.” It’s called collaboration – good people
working together. Central to “On Mission for The
Church Alive!” is collaboration. We are working
collaboratively on the difficulties and opportunities
we have as the Church of Pittsburgh to look for good
answers. There’s work to be done. Look around to
find somebody to talk about those difficulties and
opportunities. Today is a good time to start.

Alive!” on page 5 of this week’s Pittsburgh Catholic

Early Childhood Center Halloween!
The Early Childhood Center had a “spook”tacular time
with their new Minion friend (aka Fr. Jay)! There were
ghosts, super heroes, princesses, pumpkins, witches,
and even more minions!! Our party day ended with a
costume parade in the gym for all to enjoy!
What a FUN time!
Thank you!
A heartfelt “thank you” to all who
volunteered to help with the Holiday Craft
Show. My wonderful friends, Kathy Lloyd,
Diane & Wayne Crowe, Theresa Malacki,
Sharon Lentz, Cathy & Kerri Maselko,
Cris Bridge, and Caitlyn Doyle. The Craft
Show wouldn’t have been possible without
all of your help! Thanks also to all who
donated to the Bake Sale. All proceeds
from the Craft Show will be donated to
SSJ’s Faith Formation Ministry.

Ladies of Charity celebrate 25 wonderful years of service at SSJ
Founded by St. Vincent de Paul, Patron of
all Charity, the Ladies of Charity responded
to the needs of the poor in seventeenth
century France. The organization was
established in Pittsburgh in 1959.
Our SS. Simon & Jude Ladies of Charity
have been ministering in our parish for
twenty five years. They were established
here in 1990 by parishioner, Grace
Eckhardt. Some of their ministries include
visiting the sick and the aged, assisting at
our funeral Masses, putting together gifts
for the home bound, preparing food for the
homeless, and aiding women's shelters.
The Ladies feel they make their lives more
meaningful if they share it with those who
need them.
"The Confraternity of Ladies of Charity
sprang from God in order to honor Our
Lord Jesus Christ as the Source and Model
of all Charity." - St. Vincent de Paul
412Youth Adoration
Sunday November 15th
6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
St. Barbara Parish
45 Prestley Rd
Bridgeville, PA 15017
All high school students, college students, and young adults are
welcome to St. Barbara Parish to pray and worship at Eucharistic
Adoration as a united group of youth from SS. Simon & Jude,
Our Lady of Grace, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, St. Margaret, and
St. Barbara. Eucharist renews our covenant, draws us into the
compelling love of Christ and sets us on fire. It is our desire
to see that this sacrament of love shall be at
the center of the life of the people of God.
Adoration is such a powerful time to focus
your thoughts and prayers. This is also not
your normal Adoration, we will be led in
song and worship by musician Mark Lang.
Take this opportunity to say “yes” to your
faith and be a part of an amazing worship.

RCIA – Rite of Christian
Initiation of Adults
What happens after we die? Humans have
been asking that question since the dawn
of time. Jesus reveals that death is not the
final word.
Christians follow the one who has gone
before us in the person of Jesus, whose
death and resurrection shed light on what
awaits us.
Death is a birth to new life. Jesus tells us
that whoever believes in Him will have
eternal life. Where are we heading? What
is our goal?
Do we desire to spend eternity with God?
Do our daily choices reflect our desire?
