Interested in trying stand up paddle boarding, kayaking or canoeing? Join us for an
experience on beautiful Kempenfelt Bay, Lake Simcoe!
This adventure includes a leisurely tour of the Barrie waterfront
giving you the chance to unwind and see the city sights from the
Bay. We will cover safety, basic strokes, and then we are on the
water. Enjoy the sights, the birds and ducks, and paddle over a
shipwreck from the 1800’s.
Would you like your picture taken by the fountain, or with the
Spirit Catcher sculpture in the background? We have it covered.
We bring the camera! We offer some early evening moonlight or
glow in the dark paddles too.
We have stand up paddleboards and canoes. We also have sea kayaks, sit on top kayaks or
would you prefer a kayak built for two? We have two tandem kayaks to accommodate friends
and couples who wish to kayak together, and
these tandem kayaks are awesome for parents
and children. The kids can join their parents
out on the lake in a tandem kayak for a great
family experience! This is a great outing for
singles, couples, and families. We supply the
stand up paddle boards, the canoe, the kayak,
paddles, and required safety equipment.
Would you like to start building a foundation
for your passion? During the summer we
offer 2.5 hour stand up paddle boarding,
kayaking, and canoeing clinics as well as Paddle Canada and ORCKA Certification one and two
day courses. How about making a Greenland paddle or working on your navigation skills?

Minesing Wetlands
Experience wilderness paddling close to home! The 6,000 hectare
Minesing Wetlands feature swamps, marshes and fens to explore.
Explore the Nottawasaga River
You don’t have to travel north to find great paddling adventures!
Located about an hour north of Toronto, the Nottawasaga River offers canoeist and
kayakers of all abilities a chance to paddle through forests, wetlands and dunes close
to home.
Starting near the Hamlet of Nicolston, the Nottawasaga River Canoe Route runs
75 km downstream to Georgian Bay. You’ll find you can travel the entire route at a
comfortable pace in two or three days.
Day 1 – Middle Nottawasaga
Best travelled in the spring, the 33 km trip along the Nottawasaga River from
Nicolston to the Town of Angus features a series of small rapids, impressive clay and
sand bluffs, and excellent rainbow trout fishing (catch and release only).

Day 2 – Minesing Wetlands
From Angus, the river continues for 19 km through the internationally-significant
Minesing Wetlands to the Hamlet of Edenvale. However, most paddlers opt to start
their trip into the wetlands at Willow Creek, just south of Minesing Village. The creek
winds through pristine marsh and open wetlands before reaching the main branch
of the Nottawasaga.
If you are a nature enthusiast, you’ll find a wide diversity of plants and animals to
be discovered in the Minesing Wetlands, including more than 220 species of birds.
Many of the 32 fish species that call the river home can be found here, including
walleye, sturgeon, salmon and trout.
Day 3 – Lower Nottawasaga
Once out of the wetlands, the river travels 24 km to Wasaga Beach, where it spills
into Georgian Bay. Along this section you’ll find Jack’s Lake, a popular open-water
fishing spot that makes an easy paddle for families with young children. A bit further
along the river, you’ll find a spectacular series of parabolic sand dunes, the largest in
the province.

PADDLING IN SIMCOE COUNTY
Simcoe County boasts some of the best paddling
opportunities in both Southern and Central Ontario.
Whether you crave vast expanses of open water
or looking to explore meandering rivers, there is
something for every paddler in Simcoe County. Below
are just a few samplings of the veritable buffet of the
counties waterways.
Sea kayaking on Georgian Bay is definitely for those
looking for adventure. There are many communities
along the shores of Georgian Bay that offer various
quick and easy access to get you out and on the
water in no time, including Collingwood, Wasaga
Beach, Awenda Provincial Park, Penetanguishene, and
Midland. Whether you prefer to cruise the shoreline
or head for bigger water, always be sure to check the
weather first, and let someone know where you’re
going and when you plan on returning.
The Black River is a great day trip for the intermediate
paddler. Launching east of Washago, the Black will take
you through a few sets of rapids, and you’ll see some
of the beautiful granite features that make up the
southern tip of the Canadian Shield.
The Nottawasaga River is an amazing river with
incredible historical significance. It’s perfect for both
canoes and kayaks, and has convenient put-ins at both
the Edenvale Conservation area and Klondike Sports
Park. This paddle is great for novice paddlers and
families.
Minesing Swamp is an incredible internationally
recognized wetland stretching over an area of more
than 6,000 hectares. It provides paddlers with some
amazing early season paddling when the water levels
are high. Make sure you have someone along with you
who knows the swamp; this could be a friend who
knows it well, or a hired guide from a local outfitter.
Also, remember to bring some binoculars, as the
swamp is considered a prime birding location.
6 Mile Lake is a Provincial Park that offers great
opportunities for all levels of paddlers. Located close
to Coldwater, many people use this park as a starting
point for the Gibson to McDonald canoe route.
Lake Simcoe is a large lake known for its chop, so
ensure to check the weather before heading out.
Access points include Kempenfelt Bay in Barrie and
Cook’s Bay near Keswick. Cook’s Bay has some great
marshes that are definitely worth exploring!
