Exquisite: Our Culinary Offerings on the Mountain
The renowned mountain management study, “Best Ski Resorts”, sums it up: According to the lat est study,
Schladming came in 2nd place in the category of “Best Culinary Offering on the Mountain”. This award is
based on a survey conducted on a total of 48,000 guests in Europe’s top 55 skiing areas. The wide variety of
culinary establishments in particular greatly contribute to guest satisfaction.
Culinary Delights-Variety on the Skiing Mountains
“From our pot to your heart”. This is how the innkeepers of all 98, some of which are “award winning”, ski lodges
cook on the skiing mountains of the Schladming -Dachstein holiday region. Featuring a wide variety of culinary
offerings containing delicacies for every palate.
The ski lodges’ many menus enrich the touristic offering, which proves rewarding for our guests. Nowadays,
holidaymakers expect more than just schnitzel or sausage with chips on the mountain. The Schladming Dachstein region’s lodge chefs prepare authentic meals according to traditional recipes - from hearty bowls of
soup to doughnuts with authentic Styrian cheese to fresh, home-made strudel.

Innovative, digital solutions round off our ext ensive online offerings. The Schladming-Dachst ein app is an
example. In collaboration with the Alpstein tour site, outdooractive.com, it provides access to around 240
summer and winter tours (cross-country skiing, snowshoe hiking, winter hiking, ski tours or tobogganing). In
addition to height profiles, detailed descriptions, and photos, users can also make use of goodies such as the
summit finder or tracking programme. Furthermore, the app allows you to save the tours offline. This allows you
to use it in mountain areas where the signal is weak. In addition to tours, it also offers a lot of interesting
information on events, businesses, venues, accommodation, etc. You can find the desktop version for all tours
at touren.schladming-dachstein.at
Digital Solutions with a Vision
This well-established digit al infrastructure creates an excellent foundation for developments and testing
innovative products. In the Schladming-Dachstein region, the “Data Ski Goggles” – software for ski goggles
with an integrated display – was extensively test ed and developed. In addition to standard features such as
speed, metres, and dist ance covered, this software also provides live information on the weather, lift waiting
times and route navigation.
Guests may rent or purchase the new, pre-installed data ski goggles in all 25 Intersport rent al locations
throughout all of Ski amadé for 19 Euros per day.
With its 300 access points, the free Wi-Fi network in the Schladming -Dachstein holiday region is
among the largest in Austria.
Ski amadé, Austria’s most pleasurable skiing experience
New: The Highest Farmer’s Market in the Alps
Ski amadé. Five regions, 760 kilometres of pistes, 270 lift systems, and 260 ski lodges and restaurants.
Salzburger Sportwelt, Schladming-Dachstein, Gastein, Hochkönig, and Großarltal belong to Austria’s
largest ski association, Ski amadé.
During the 2015/2016 winter season, Ski amadé provided a new culinary highlight: the highest farmer’s market
in the Alps – in the middle of the skiing area. In recent years, Ski amandé guests have come to expect numerous
enjoyment initiatives such as a cable car dinner, the Genussspecht initiative (connoisseur initiative) or the ski &
wine offerings. On Sunday 13 March 2016, Ski amandé will add a new culinary touch and bring the farmer’s
market from the valley to the mountain. Directly to the skiers, so to speak. This will make post -ski run stops in
the numerous lodges throughout all of the amandé region virtually seem like a visit to the market place. The
stands at the numerous lodges offer a wide range of traditional, homemade products: many types of cheeses,
farmhouse bacon, wild salami and much more. In addition, skiers can directly tast e many different specialities at
some booths. Plattlkrapfen with sauerkraut or authentic Pinzgau Kasnocken. This is how the region’s delicacies
are meant to be savoured – from sour to sweet, from hearty to finely seasoned. And whatever tast es the best
can naturally be purchased as well. Regional producers are present at the market stands and will be more than
happy to talk to you about the origin of their products and their special qualities.
The highest farmer’s market in the Alps tops off Ski amandé’s excellent culinary offerings. In addition, it t akes
place this season during the Ski and Wine Enjoyment Week from 12 to 19 March 2016. This week will have
numerous events on Austrian wine culture and regional products. 20 lodges and mountain restaurants in Ski
amandé are currently among the Ski and Wine Enjoyment Lodge partners. They are identified by a certification
plaque at the entrance and stand out thanks to their rich wine selection, select accompanying dishes, and their
special service culture – even when it’s not Ski and Wine Enjoyment Week. These select lodges offer very special
regional specialities made from domestic products. Dishes are listed separately on the menus and uniquely
indicate their place of origin, for not only do the processors or refiners originate from the region, but the product
itself as well. Lodge owners provide at least two different regional dish es with domestic products daily.
Furthermore, there are also special wine recommendations for ski pleasure dishes. For instance, skiers at a ski
and wine pleasure lodge can order a pink-roasted cut of roast beef from natural Pongau cattle with red wine
shallot sauce and Erdäpfelnide and glazed young carrots or a curd cheese blueberry strudel with self-picked
blueberries from H auser Kaibling and curd cheese from the Ennstal dairy plant. We recommend pairing this with
a glass of Austrian green Veltliner or Blauer Zweigelt.

Sensation in Schladming-Dachstein: TENACIOUS D are playing their
own, unique European show.
The now-legendary Planai Ski opening is entering the next phase. On 4 December, a total of four top stars
will once again form a true festival line-up. A sensation awaits fans: Tenacious D are playing their own
European show in Schladming A lso joining in are this year’s newcomers, Bilderbuch, Top DJ Fritz
Kalkbrenner, and Austro star Christina Stürmer. Tickets are available now.
Tenacious D – Exclusive in Europe
The highlight of the 4 December ski opening is the unique and exclusive European concert by the American cult
band, Tenacious D, with Jack Black and Kyle Gass. Their homeland, the USA, is not the only place where they
are celebrated superstars. Both musicians have been on tour again since February 2015, and now they will make
an exclusive appearance in Schladming.
Bilderbuch, Fritz Kalkbrenner & Christina Stürmer
These are this year’s newcomers! Even if the Austro Band Bilderbuch was founded as early as in 2005 – 2015 is
their year. The band reached number 1 on the charts with their album titled “Schick Schock”. The band backing
singer Maurice Ernst is already a big deal in Austria, G ermany and Switzerland. They are even treated as the
successor to Falco. People around the world dance to Fritz Kalkbrenner’s music. International clubs can no
longer do without his such as “Get a Life”, “Sky and Sand”, or “Back Home”. Whether it’s Canada, America,
Germany, France or Eastern Europe – Fritz Kalkbrenner’s soul voice, coupled with DJ beats, is recognised
worldwide and he will thrill the crowds in Schladming on 4 December.
What would the Austrian music world be without her excellent voice? Christina Stürmer, a native of Upper
Austria, has been highly-successful for a good 10 years. H er breakthrough was in 2005 with her song, “Ich lebe”.
Her hit, “Was wirklich bleibt” and her “best of” album have been on the charts for months. Ever since she
participat ed in the “Sing meinen Song – das Tauschkonzert” television series, Christina Stürmer has also
enjoyed increased popularity in Germany.
Go-Ahead for Five Days of Skiing and Music
On 4 December Open Air is, for the first time, the st art of a multi-day series of events from 4 to 8 December.
During these days, there will mainly be a focus on skiing combined with music. Together with the Austrian Ski
Federation (ÖSV), 6 December will be a day fully characterised by skiing.
Planai-GF Dir. Georg Bliem: “This composition of multiple musical genres, in addition to Tenacious D exclusively
in Austria – I am looking forward to 4 December! I am proud of the fact that we have international musicians
coming here at the Planai. The event programme throughout the entire extended weekend will provide
additional value for the entire region of Schladming-Dachstein.”
