Dear colleagues,
Invitation to the I" Global Youth Conference 2012: "Youth as agents of change ... Making a
difference in the world around you", 9 -12 December 2012, Vienna, Austria
In furthering our collective commitment to strengthen youth engagement in the Red Cross Red
Crescent, we are pleased to announce that the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent
Societies (IFRC) together with the Austria Red Cross is organizing the first Global Youth Conference
to be held in Vienna, Austria from 9-12 December 2012. The theme of the conference is "Youth as
agents of change ... Making a difference in the world around you".
Inspired by the Youth Declaration, Solferino 2009 and more recently the revised IFRC Youth Policy
adopted at the General Assembly in November 2011, the conference aims to facilitate youth
engagement in making a difference in the lives of vulnerable people by addressing the range of
humanitarian challenges throughout the world. It will also provide input to the evolving operational
IFRC Youth Strategy as well as how young people can contribute toward strengthening National
Societies.
The Chair and members of the Youth Commission see this conference as an important milestone in
reinforcing the important contribution of young people in meeting the humanitarian challenges facing
us, as well as facilitating opportunities for greater youth engagement in our Movement through
regional networks and partnerships with other youth organizations. Attached is more information on
the conference.
Participation
We cordially invite your National Society to nominate and fully fund a youth leader between 18 - 30
