Singh Durbar is the heart of country. Office of Prime Minister and ministries of governments are in Singh Durbar. This area linked to different important offices and to Rantpark and Sundhara area. People faced problem going to the centre of Kathmandu, the Captial city of Nepal. The agitation has created price of commodities hiked. Price of food and vegetable hiked almost double than just a week ago. Sellers think that this agitation will create problems in supply again. Scarcity creates price hiking. This is seen in market. Kathmandu must know the reality of agenda of agitators. Kathmandu must associate Madhesh to it. The way of associating Madhesh is to address Madheshis as countrymen. Once associating Madheshis are addressed as countrymen there will be no problem how many provinces are formed in Madhesh. Either it is one Madhesh or two Madhesh. To do this Kathmaud must support agitation running in Madhesh. October 2015 End Sources : Indianembassy website 3 Monday, 16 th May, 2016 2073, Jestha 3rd National Weekly Use of motor in pumping water created water crisis Chure range, the destruction of forest has been seen massive. The massive deforestation must be stopped and plantation must be grown. Growing trees can create preservation of water resources. The use motor in hand pipe to pump water should be managed. Recently it has been seen scarcity of water along the Chure ranged districts of Madhesh. What do you say about this scarcity of water in this area? - Origins of water resources have been seen dried in Himali, Hilly, Mountainous and Tarai area of Nepal. Scarcity of water has been seen more in urban area than non urban area. But this problem is not only local problem but also it is global problem. From Sikkim in east to Gadhawal in west and mid range of mountainous area the crisis of water has been seen more or less. But in Chure range the crisis of water is at its highest level. Chure area has been less water based area than other areas. We can see some reasons easily. First is polythene pipe. When the use of polythene pipe emerged it created wastage of water from hand pipe. Before the use of polythene pipe people carry waters in pitchers as much as they needed. They carry as much as they required for. They did not bring more water because the water would be outdated by the following day of carried water. Such water was not used for drinking and worshiping gods. This situation limited the use of water. But now the pipe helped people use more water. The use of water increased more than double. The second is the destruction in the name of development more. Development works like construction of roads and dams have destructed the natural reservoir of water. In the rainy season such reservoir must be fulfilled. But such natural reservoirs were not recharged with rain fall because of such destruction created in the name of development. The construction of building, city, town, factory has disturbed the source of water from recharging. The structure of Chure mountain range is not to carry water. Sandstone areas gather water. Chure area scarce sandstone construction so it lacks water. We are in difficult geographical situation. We have to run 9 months based on 3 months water fall. In past in Chure such scarcity of water was not noticed. What did happen within a year that caused the water crisis in the area? -Last year it was liquefied year. We had faced devastating earth quake last year but we had rain also. We had rain in last September and we are in half of May and just received rain. This is an extreme drought in Nepal this year. Such drought is rare in Nepal. For the protection of Chure range different agencies and government are active. How do you notice their activities for the protection of Chure? - We have seen different committees and locals working in different places. Where locals are more engaged in the protection there work has been seen done more. I have not seen the work where government officials are engaged more. How do you think the locals can protect Chure? -In Chure range, the destruction of forest has been seen massive. The massive deforestation must be stopped and plantation must be grown. Growing trees can create preservation of water resources. The use motor in hand pipe to pump water should be managed. And most important thing is taking sand and stone from the area. The permission of taking sand and stone should be given based on scientific measurement base. As much as you take sand and stone that much the layer or water goes down. As much as, the layer of Govinda Pokharel Expert of Water Resources sand and stone lies on upper level that much the water level will be at upper level in ground. Another hand the water level should be at its required level otherwise it will create flood and destruct the farm. What do you think since when the deforestation increased in this area? -The deforestation has been increased when the people of mountain started living in Tarai. During that period the timber was exported and forest was cut down. But plantation was not made. And the area was settled by people of mountain. This helped increasing population in Tarai. People settled in Chure range more. The construction of east west highway created facility to live people in this area. Villages were settled in northern area at the bottom of Chure along the highway. What do you think about the water projects in Tarai Madhesh? In Tarai Madhesh it was easy to get water from hand pipe. Government delayed in Tarai Madhesh about water projects. But now the situation has been different. Underground water found somewhere that is not for drinking. People are enforced drinking impure water in Tarai Madhesh and somewhere there is not enough water. This requires a proper water supply management in Tarai Madhesh. The lack of irrigation projects created water crisis in Madhesh. Water runs through dams and canals that irrigate the farms and recharge the underground natural reservoirs. 4 Monday, 16th May, 2016 2073, Jestha 3rd National Weekly Photo Feature : 'Sinhadurbar Gherao' organized by The Federal Alliance 5 Monday, 16th May, 2016 2073, Jestha 3rd Modi spends time with mother on her first visit to 7RCR Away from the media glare, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother, Heeraben, has spent some “quality time” with her son at his official residence in New Delhi. What should have been a celebratory last weekend of the league season around the country was overshadowed as bomb disposal experts were called to carry out a controlled explosion on a suspicious package at Old Trafford. The Stretford End and Sir Alex Ferguson Stand were evacuated as the match was called off 20 minutes before the scheduled 1400 GMT kick-off in Manchester, with United later confirming a security alert caused the abrupt cancellation at the 75,600-capacity stadium. “Due to the discovery of a suspect package in the NorthWest Quadrant of the ground, the match with Bournemouth has been abandoned today on police advice,” a United spokesman said. By 3.15pm local time the remaining parts of Old Trafford were evacuated and shortly although with Manchester United due to face Crystal Palace in next Saturday’s FA Cup final and Euro 2016 warm-up fixtures scheduled for the following week there is little room for manoeuvre. Despite the worrying scenes at Old Trafford, the other nine matches went ahead as planned. Completing a bad day for United, Manchester City drew 1-1 at Swansea City to effectively guarantee fourth place and Champions League qualification at the expense of their local rivals, who are three points behind them with a goal difference of only +12 compared to +30 for Manuel Pellegrini’s men. City took the lead as Kelechi Iheanacho slotted home in the fifth minute after Sergio Aguero’s shot was pushed into the young Nigeria striker’s path. Initially, referee Mike Dean appeared to disallow the goal for offside, but the official on a high, with Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola to replace him in the close-season. Capping a frustrating climax to the season for Tottenham, Mauricio Pochettino’s team came third as their 5-1 humiliation at relegated Newcastle United, combined with Arsenal’s 40 win over bottom club Aston Villa, saw the Gunners leapfrog their north London rivals to finish second. After losing the title to Leicester City, Tottenham have also wasted a chance to finish above Arsenal for the first time since 1994-95. Georginio Wijnaldum struck for Newcastle in the 19th minute before Aleksandar Mitrovic added the second six minutes before half-time. Although Erik Lamela got one back for Tottenham on the hour and Mitrovic was sent off after 67 minutes, Wijnaldum stroked home a 73rd-minute penalty. Rolando Aarons made it four in 85th minute and Daryl Janmaat added a late fifth to compound Tottenham’s misery.
