APPLICATION FORM
IMPORTANT GUIDELINES
This championship is only open to associations and clubs that are members of their
respective governing body and that are recognised by the WKF of their country. The
associations and clubs enter under the rules of the EKF (English Karate Federation).
All competitors MUST have current insurance cover.
All coaches signing this entry form have confirmed and seen all registration including
insurance cover for all their competitors.
This entry form should be returned no later than Friday 28th November 2008. It must be
correctly completed, with the appropriate fee enclosed.
The names of every competitor along with the booking registration number must be
included on the entry form; this includes both individual and team entries.
Entries without booking registration numbers or without the correct fee will not be accepted.
COACHES INFORMATION
1.0 All competitors will have to produce their licences as there will be a licence registration
check on the day.
2.0 All associations are responsible to ensure that competitors they enter all have
insurance cover and membership through their association.
3.0 Any competitor failing the licence registration check or weigh-in check will not be
allowed to compete.
4.0 All coaches must dress in association / dojo tracksuit tops or colours and must wear
their coaches’ badge on the day of the competition to access areas.
5.0 A maximum of 3 qualified coaches are permitted from each association. All coaches
must provide their details to the Chief Referee.
6.0 Only 1 coach from each association is permitted at the Tatami or head table at any one
time.
7.0 Only 1 coach is exempt spectators fee.
8.0 Coaches and Spectators with cameras will have to purchase a camera day pass (see
page 14 for details)

The ‘Best of the Best’ elite fighters.
This category is an elevated level of competition for the fighters that have a tendency to win
Gold at every tournament. The Best of the Best category is open to fighters that have proven
to be the best in WKF based kumite championships both here and abroad. This category will
prove to be one of the highlights of the day.
If you enter this category you are not allowed to enter the individual dan grade senior kumite
event. You will, however, be allowed to compete in the senior open weight divisions.
Please note you can only enter these categories if you meet the following criteria:




Former WKF recognised Karate National Champion in Kumite
Current WKF recognised Karate National Champion in Kumite
Competed at International Level
In a National Governing Body Karate Squad for Kumite
The winner of this category will be featured on the promo for next year’s tournament and will be the
very first to obtain the prestigious title of ‘The Best of the Best’ National Champion.
Winning prize money for this category is £500.00

All competitors MUST have full WKF approved equipment.
The following equipment is compulsory:
- Gumshields
- Female chest guards
- WKF approved foot and shin Guards
- WKF approved hand mitts
- Male groin guards
- White Do-Gi (Gee)
Kanji and Association badges are allowed on Gi.

still cameras and video cameras.
All passes must be worn while filming or taking still pictures. If you are
unable to produce your pass when asked by an official, you may be asked

Directions
By Bus
From Uxbridge (underground) station: U3 (alight Cleveland Road), U1 U4 and U7
(alight Kingston Lane), 427 (alight The Greenway and use river path), 607 express (alight
The Greenway and use river path), 222 and U5 (alight Cowley Road and use path via
University flats).
From Heathrow Central: A10 "Heathrow Fast", every 15 minutes, journey time
approximately 25 minutes (alight The Greenway and use river path).
From West Drayton railway station: U3 (alight Cleveland Road), 222 (alight Cowley
Road and use path via University flats).
From Stockley Park: A10 "Heathrow Fast" as above, journey time approximately 10
minutes.
By Underground (London Transport)
Take the Metropolitan Line from Baker Street (and Piccadilly Line during peak hours)
westbound to Uxbridge station. Then you can take a taxi or bus route (see above for
recommended services). Alternatively you can walk to the campus, using the 1-mile walking
route shown on page 18.
By Rail
West Drayton (First Great Western Link) is the nearest main-line station (approx. 1.5 miles
from the campus). Services run from London Paddington (approx journey length: 20 mins)
or the West (Bristol). From West Drayton station, take a bus towards Uxbridge: 222 (alight
Cowley Road), U5 (alight Station Road), or U3 (alight Cleveland Road).
West Ruislip Station (Chiltern Railways) is the main-line service from London Marylebone
and the North (Aylesbury, Banbury and Birmingham) and is approx 4 miles from the
campus. From West Ruislip Station take the U1 bus towards Hillingdon Hospital, alight
Cleveland Road. The University Reception is on the left opposite the pond walk through the campus
toward Kingston Lane and the sports centre is on the left after the small bridge.

Walking from Uxbridge Town Centre
The walk from Uxbridge tube and bus stations (shown in red on map) is approximately one mile.
From Uxbridge Tube Station, skirt around the Old Market past HSBC bank into Windsor Street.
At the bottom of Windsor Street, turn left and cross the dual carriageway via the light-controlled crossing.
Bear left and then walk straight on, avoiding the subway, into Whitehall Road.
It is then a 15-minute walk along Whitehall Road and over the crossroads into Cleveland Road. The University
Reception is on the left opposite the pond. Walk through the campus toward Kingston Lane and the sports centre
is on the left after the small bridge.

By Car
Entry is via Kingston Lane only.
M4: Leave M4 at Junction 4 and follow signs to Uxbridge (A408). Straight across first set of traffic lights,
continue on A408, crossing four roundabouts. Turn right at the next set of major traffic lights.
Continue ahead to next set of lights and, almost immediately take the right filter lane at second set of traffic
lights into Station Road. Continue straight on into Church Road and take the first exit at a mini-roundabout
into Pield Heath Road. Turn left into Kingston Lane and left into the University at the roundabout. The Sports
centre is on the right side of the mini roundabout once you are on the grounds.
A40/M40: At Swakeleys Roundabout take B483 exit to Uxbridge. Follow signs across two mini-roundabouts.
At major roundabout bear left onto A4020 (Brunel sign), straight ahead at the first lights, then almost
immediately take second right filter turn onto Kingston Lane (signposted Brunel).
M25: (From North or South) Join M40 or M4 then see above.
Access by Car for Registered Disabled Visitors
Disabled parking bays are available at various locations around the campus. Please collect a registered permit
from the competition reception once you have arrived.
