The online Senior Guest Auditor Application
Step 2: Activate your online UW-Madison
e-mail and enrollment account (“My UW”)
You may activate your
“My UW” account as
soon as you receive your
admission letter. Go to
UW-Madison’s home
page at www.wisc.edu
and then click on the
web link for “My UW”
Go to
http://my.wisc.edu
and then activate your
NetID using the
10 digit campus ID
number provided on
your admission letter
Step 3: Identify courses you might like to audit
• Go to registrar.wisc.edu and click on “Schedule of Classes”
and then click on “Public Class Search.”
OR….
• Visit Adult Career and Special Student Services, at 21 N.
Park Street, 7th floor, to see a printed course schedule. Our
office is open from 7:45am to 4:30pm, Mondays-Fridays
and Tuesday nights until 7pm.
“Class Search” will
bring you to this
page.
Enter the Term and
the course Subject
and then click
“Search” at bottom
of page to see
all courses offered
in a department.
Use other search
criteria if you wish.
Click “View
Sections” to
see detailed
Time and
Location
information
for each
class.
Take note of class time and location:
Step 4: Go to Each Class with your Permission
Forms, and Request Permission from Instructors to
Audit their Classes.
Your letter of admission will include one “Permission to
Enroll Form.” Photocopy as many forms as you need, or
download and print additional copies from:
continuingstudies.wisc.edu/advising/enroll-guest.htm
The copy of this form that will accompany your letter of admission may
be green, but any color is acceptable.
Step 5:
Take each “Permission to Enroll”
form to the department office
offering the course and ask them
to enter an electronic “Class
Permission” for you to enroll.
Verify the 5-digit Class Number.
You will need this to enroll so
you may wish to make a note of
it. Sometimes it is referred to
online as the Class Nbr.
Step 6:
On your computer, enroll in the
classes for which you have
received Class Permission. Use
the 5-digit Class Number to add
each class to your “shopping
cart.” Then begin enrolling.
You may complete your online
enrollment anytime after the
term begins, but no later than
the end of the second week of
classes. For assistance call the
Registrar’s Help Line at
608-262-0920.
Log into your My UW account using the
“NetID” provided by the system (Example:
“jsmith1”) and your chosen password
Find your Student Center in your MyUW account.
Click Course
Enrollment
Select “Term” (if needed) to reach this screen to “Add Classes”
Enter 5-digit
Class Number
Now a course is in your Shopping Cart. To enroll:
“Select” box  and click button to “begin enrolling.”
If class is correct, click “Finish Enrolling”
A green check  means you have
successfully enrolled in this class.
A red X indicates a failure to enroll. In most cases, this means you
need to contact the department again to ask them to set up the
electronic Class Permission (or to extend the permission deadline).
Always return to your Student Center to verify your
enrollment. The course or courses in which you
successfully enrolled will appear in your “Summary Grid.”
Step 7 (optional):
The day after you enroll in
at least one course, you
can pick up your WisCard
at Union South. Your
WisCard is your UWMadison photo ID card,
and it will be needed for
access to campus libraries
and computer labs (and
recreational facilities for
an additional fee).
A few final notes…
• Fall Classes begin in early
September
• Spring Classes begin in late
January
• Enroll in first class within the
first two weeks of classes to
avoid a late enrollment fee
