The Mission Volume 5 Issue 11 2014-2015 Second Nine Weeks Arkadelphia JROTC Raider Challenge The Arkadelphia High School JROTC Badger Battalion, Commanded by Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Victoria Sharma, hosted the 6th Annual Raider Challenge Competition at Lake DeGray State Park Saturday, October 17th where 20 JROTC teams including 4 All-Female teams from around the state competed. Cadets worked as a team for the best time in various events, including running, sit-ups, pushups, map reading, land navigation, cross-country litter carry and more. The Badger Battalion entered 3 teams in the competition. Team A finished 1st place overall, Team B earned 2nd place overall and Team C, the all-female team, earned 2nd place overall in their category. Team A also earned 1st place in the One Rope Bridge, Compass Course and in the Cross-Country Litter Carry events. Team B also earned 2nd Place in the One Rope Bridge and Compass Course events and they earned 3rd Place in the Raider Pentathlon event. Team C also earned 1st place in the Physical Fitness Test and Map Reading events. Not pictured was Nathan Warner. Team B consisted of (Front Row) Keontiz Batton, Romeo Bonner, Tanner Adams and Jordan Martinez; (Back Row) Parker Davis, Max Harris, Samuel Harvey, Ross Gillum, Cole McMillan (Team Commander), Carlos Cervantes and Kris Hall. Not pictured was Dave Collins. Team C consisted of (Front Row - Kneeling) Tiara Burgess, Karen Nemobou, Rachel Jarrett, Kailynn Langley and Jatasia Jenkins; (Back Row) Connie Quintero, Alexis Long, K’lee Zeagler, Estephany Cardona, Barbara Avery, Brianna Tucker and Vicki Sharma (Team Commander). On November 13th, the Cyber Patriot teams participated in Round 1 of their competition. They also participated in Round 2 on December 4th. Published by Editor C/MAJ Tea and Tiara Burgess; Battalion S-5 Color Guard for Home Game Page 5 On October 23rd, C/PFC K'Lee Zeagler, C/SGT Mehkia Wilson, C/1SGT Brianna Tucker, and C/CPL Racheal Jarret presented the colors at the Arkadelphia badger football game. The Junior ROTC also helped with the parking detail. Published by Editor C/MAJ Tea and Tiara Burgess; Battalion S-5 CG at HS Clarion and Murphreesboro Page 6 On November 5th, C/LTC Vicki Sharma,C/2LT Corey McClure, C/MSG Keith Eakin, and C/1SG Brianna Tucker presented the colors for the Daughters of the American Revolution and Sons of the American Revolution dedication ceremony for Lieutenant William Jenkins, a Revolutionary War veteran, who is buried at Murfreesboro, AR. Also, Mr. Jim Lloyd, the AHS Band Director, played Taps at the ceremony. C/SSG Mehkia Wilson sang the National Anthem. That same day, the same exact color guard also presented the colors for the Arkansas Association of Educational Office Professionals (AAEOP) at the Clarion Hotel in Hot Springs. Central Primary School Festival On November 7th, the Junior ROTC cadets helped coordinate the fall festival at Central Primary School. Veterans Day Nursing Home Visit On November 11th, the Junior ROTC cadets went to the Twin Rivers Nursing Home and gave cards to all the veterans for Veterans Day. Christmas Caroling at the Twin Rivers and Courtyard Gardens Rehab Center On December 17th, the Junior ROTC sang Christmas Carols at the Twin Rivers Rehab Center and Courtyard Gardens.
