Consolidates to Vienna Location D E V E L O P M E N T S Spring 2010 Millwood Inc. now occupies these buildings at the Trumbull County Airport. VIENNA- Millwood, Inc. has consolidated its operations to one location, with the acquisition of property at the Trumbull County Airport. The company had been operating from sites in Boardman, Canton and Girard. The land purchase was made possible by PNC Bank, a Regional “166” loan and the Mahoning Valley Industrial Loan Fund (MVILF) through MVEDC. Among its diverse business holdings, Millwood distributes new and recycled pallets, pallet containers and boxes, taping systems and other industrial packaging and material handling products and services. Millwood is owned by Lionel Trebilock and James Miller. The new site includes two previously vacant facilities; one will be used for corporate offices for the company, the other for manufacturing, storage and distribution of the company’s products. Millwood expects to create 25 new jobs as part of the move. Rossi Elected President of MVEDC Board Dennis A. Rossi was elected president of the MVEDC Board of Directors at its February meeting; he had previously been vicepresident and a member of the executive committee. Rossi is the president of Rossi Insurance Agency, a long-time Mahoning Valley business, specializing in property and casualty insurance products. Rossi is a past president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Trumbull County and the Independent Insurance Agents of Ohio. He serves on the Board of Trustees of the Warren YMCA and is treasurer of the Warren Sports Hall of Fame; he was elected to the Warren Sports Hall of Fame in 2004. Patricia B. Augustine, Zamarelli Realtors in Warren, was elected vice president. Re-elected officers include Frank D. DeJute, Dennis A. Rossi secretary; James E. Glenn, treasurer; Warren Harrell, Jr., assistant President, MVEDC secretary; and newly elected David C. French, assistant treasurer. Also welcomed are newly appointed directors: Michael S. Garvey, President, M7 Technologies; U.S. Magistrate Judge George J. Limbert; and Steven J. Snyder, Vice President, Commercial Lending, First National Bank. NORTH JACKSON- The Higgins-Reardon family of funeral homes is expanding with the addition of a new facility in North Jackson. The purchase of an existing building and expansion of that building was made possible by Huntington Bank and the Mahoning Valley Industrial Loan Fund (MVILF) through MVEDC. The Higgins family has been in the funeral business since 1923, when Frank and Marie Higgins opened their first funeral home in Youngstown. Their son John and his wife Barbara moved the business to Austintown and expanded with locations in Boardman and Poland. Their daughter, Judy, became a funeral director and along with her husband, Terry Reardon, who is also a funeral director, has expanded the business to additional locations, including the new facility in North Jackson. The business provides pre-planning services and many locations offer libraries with information on topics related to grief. Girard Dairy Queen Builds New, Expands Business Updates CORTLAND- With the assistance of the Mahoning Valley Industrial Loan Fund (MVILF) through MVEDC, Trevor Berry has expanded the products offered at his Taylor Rental Center location on Elm Road. The store offers rental equipment, including audio/visual, floor care, construction and hand tools, party and banquet supplies and more. Mr. Berry has been in business since 2005. Taylor Rental Center is the largest rental chain in the country. The Elm Road location expects to add two additional employees. CANFIELD- Kevin Sheldon has started his new business, Alstart Enterprises, on West Main Street in Canfield. The company will produce heat transfer rolls used in the home building, packaging, food, medical and automotive industries. NEW MIDDLETOWN- The Sparkle Markets in Belleria Pizza Opens at New Location on Belmont Avenue in Liberty Township LIBERTY TOWNSHIP- Liberty Township now has access to a conveniently located Belleria Pizza on Belmont Avenue, with the addition of a new franchise owned by Lavonne Morgan. Bill Hoover will manage the new location; he has been with Belleria for over ten years, most recently at the Niles location. The new location will offer dine-in service, as well as convenient carry-out thru a drive thru window. Belleria Pizza is a Youngstown tradition, starting in April 1957 when Phyllis Frasco and Rose Liberato opened their first pizza shop. The company is now owned by Phyllis’ sons, Jimmy and Michael. Franchising the business began in 1996 and there are now many locations in northeastern Ohio and Columbus. The company maintains strict quality control over the product, ensuring the customer’s experience is the same at each location. The purchase and start-up of the restaurant was made possible by Farmer’s National Bank and the Mahoning Valley Industrial Loan Fund (MVILF), through MVEDC. The restaurant will employ 15 people. New Middletown and Struthers have both been renovated and have new cash registers, thanks to Chase Bank and the Mahoning Valley Industrial Loan Fund (MVILF) through MVEDC. Tony and Patsy Frattaroli have owned the Struthers store since 1986. A full-service grocery, the business includes the Hometown Pharmacy. The New Middletown store was opened in 1998. Customers in both stores will experience quicker and more efficient check-out with the new equipment, which will also help manage the operation of the business.
