present. Representative from the State Nodal Agency, KREDL were also present.
This was followed by a presentation on the basics of CST systems and their possible uses in
hospital and hospitality sectors by Shri Prabhuram Subramanian, Senior Research Associate,
WISE. This provided the starting point for the issues to be discussed on the given topic.
In his lecture on “MNRE programme on CSTs”, Dr. Goswami elaborated the objective and
incentives provided by the Government of India under CST scheme along with certain case
studies of the systems installed in the country. He emphasized the need for expansion of
the program on large-scale, which is possible only through the active participation of the
stakeholders.
The next lecture by Shri S. N. Srinivas on “UNDP-GEF project on CSTs”, presented details of
major initiatives taken up by UNDP-GEF under the project Concentrated Solar Heat and
budgetary provisions provided thereof. The incentives, in addition to that of MNRE, provided
by UNDP was also explained in detail for the two kinds of categories of the projects, viz.
demonstration and replication projects.
An informative documentary film of 10 minutes duration on operational CST system
installed at Gajraj Drycleaners, Ahmednagar was shown, which set the stage for further
techno-financial lectures from manufacturers.
From manufacturers’ side, the two presentations with different technologies were made for
techno-economics of 250 sq. m. collector area:
a) Parabolic dish (ARUN dish) by Shri Girish M., Area Sales Manager, M/s. Clique Solar
Pvt. Ltd, Mumbai who presented the technical, commercial and financial aspects of
the dish-type of solar concentrator.

Thereafter, an informative film was shown on the CST systems installed at the premises of
Prasadalaya building of Shri Sai Sansthan, Shirdi for mass cooking; showing the benefits
reaped by them by augmenting the present steam requirement with solar system. The
interview of users in the film justifies their decision to take up this project as they are
saving large amount of fossil fuel.
Queries raised by participants were satisfactorily answered by MNRE authorities, WISE and
manufacturers. Based on the registration list, a total of 29 participants representing 5
hotels, 8 hospitals and other stakeholders attended the business meet. Out of these, 15
institutions have shown interest in having CST systems installed at their establishments for
