Once the road closes for the repair work it is expected to remain closed for 35 days. Hawrot A Message From the Community Service Officer Signs– There are sign ordinances governing the display of temporary and permanent signs throughout the town. Before you place any sign for advertising a business, group event, fundraiser or activity please check the town code by contacting the town website. Garbage Cans- Garbage and rubbish shall be placed out for collection no sooner than 6:00 p.m. the day prior to scheduled pickup, and returned to storage by 8:00 p.m. on the day of pickup. All garbage containers and receptacles are required to be stored behind the front foundation of the primary residence as stated by ordinance. Grass/Weeds - Noxious weeds and other rank vegetation, including but not limited to any grass, weeds or other vegetation, living or dead, which exceeds twelve (12) inches above ground level is a violation of town ordinance. Dyer, Munster, Highland, and Griffith participated in a fundraising softball tournament with the proceeds going to the Cancer Resource Centre of Munster. Dyer Police-Fire brought home the championship trophy for the second year in a row. Thank you to all that contributed and came out to support a great cause. Spaces are 10x40 Solarize Dyer Due to the extension of the NIPSCO Feed-In Tariff program that pays for electricity from solar systems between 5 and 10 kiloWatts in size, Solarize Dyer has extended their deadline for contract commitments to July 31st. If you haven’t yet signed up for your free no-obligation solar assessment, now is the time! You still have a whole month to decide. So far we have 80 + signups for solar assessments region wide, with 8 in Dyer. Proposals throughout the region are up to 600 kW, with our first signed contract coming from a LaPorte business. Please call the Dyer Parks & Recreations office at (219)8652505 for class/ registration information. Sylvan Robotics/ Summer Camp with Lego: We have two more sessions of this amazing camp! Participant’s ages 6 - 12yrs. old will be exposed to various technology and engineering concepts in STEM subjects. During this 2 hour workshop, participants will build robot’s out of Lego’s and bring them to life with computer programming. Class is held at Sylvan Learning Center in Schererville. July 24 and or Aug. 7 from 9:00am – 11:00am. Fee: Res. $35/ nonres. $38. This camp fills up quickly, so register in advance at Dyer Parks & Recreation. Kindermusik: This program runs year round, and we are currently offering a drop off class, for children ages 3.5 - 6yrs. old. During this 45 min. class, participants will take imaginary trips to summer vacation locations such as the carnival, the beach and a summer cottage. They will also solve problems and learn more words. July 27 31 from 9:30am - 11:00am. Fitness programs are always a great way to stay healthy, but they also are good way to take some time for yourself! We offer Yoga, Pilates, T’ai Chi Chih, Yoga, Zumba and our new and exciting Walk Live class. Walk Live is perfect for those that want to get some excises, but prefer to do it at their own pace. While sharing his knowledge about these Native Americans and their culture, Richard will be wearing reproductions of a tribal ceremonial headdress of feathers, their typical clothing and moccasins. This is open to the public and free of charge.
