Thank you to all the Harding families for joining us Wednesday night for our Spring Concert and Annual Art Show. A
special thank you goes to Ms. Gareau, Mr. Alworth, Mrs. Engelsman, and also to Mrs. Bettina Bierly for a truly special
evening of music. Thanks also to Mrs. Norris and Mrs. Dowd for the terrific display of student art. Congratulations to
our students for their hard work and dedication to our vocal, instrumental music and art programs!
QUEST CORNER
Congratulations to team Pattern Car!
Out of 73 cars our Pattern Car created by Skylar Walters, Mary Flynn, and Fara Odunlami won 3rd in Engineering at the
Junior Solar Sprints Inter-County Final Race On May 23rd at Ridgedale Middle School in Florham Park.
This team qualified for the Inter-County Final race after winning first place out of 63 cars in Documentation Portfolio last
Thursday at the Division 4 race.

1. Bravo! – Congratulations to the middle school band and chorus for a wonderful spring concert. Thank you Ms. Gareau
and Mr. Alworth for all your hard work. Thank you also to Mrs. Norris and Mrs. Dowd for the great display of student
artwork at the show!
2. Trenton– Miss Hinds and Miss Mulligan’s fourth graders took a tour of our state capital. Fourth grade has been
studying New Jersey in social studies this year.
3. Road Trip – H.T.S. eighth graders made the annual trip to Baltimore, Washington D.C., and Annapolis. Ask an eighth
grader who ate five cotton candies!

4. Look at ‘em go! – 6 and 7 grade Quest teams won several awards at the Junior Solar Sprints this week. The students
assembled their cars to race against other schools.
5. Broadway Baby – Fifth grade ventured into the city to see the Broadway play “Tuck Everlasting”. Fifth grade can now
compare the book and the play.
LIBRARY MEDIA CENTER
Congratulations to the 3rd and 6th grade Battle of the Books teams for taking 1st place in the Interscholastic
Championship on Monday featuring teams from Green Brook, Bayberry, and Valley View Schools.

The Battle of the Books is a nationwide literacy initiative and academic competition, locally organized by the New Jersey
Association of School Librarians. Harding Township School's participation in the Battle of the Books is made possible by
the ongoing support of the Harding Township Parent Teacher Organization. Each year, the PTO purchases hundreds of
brand new books for the LMC to allow students to read, compete, and grow through this program.

Harding Herald
The Child Study Team and School Counseling Department are proud to announce the release of The Harding Herald. The
Harding Herald is a newsletter designed to provide parents and families with helpful parenting tips and useful resources.
In the current issue, the team focused on stress & stress management.

New issues of the Harding Herald will be released to the school community in the fall and the spring of each school year

Group Connections program at Madison High School.
This is a great opportunity for your children to get to know fellow classmates entering Madison High School in

Please join us for this fun-filled family event on Saturday June 4th from 9 AM - 12 PM (new time), $5 per person and $15 per family
of 3 or more (rain date: June 11).
New Location! This year the Car Show will be held at the Harding Township Municipal Buildings and Library grounds with the cars
displaying on the front lawn.
All funds raised directly benefit the students at Harding Township school for needs that fall outside of the school budget such as
enrichment programs, enhancements to the school environment, technology, teacher supplies, etc.
There will be over 100 cars on display from every era including the latest supercars to vintage cars. Kids can vote on the coolest,
fastest, oldest and loudest car. Join us for lunch and check out some really cool cars!

HARDING TOWNSHIP SCHOOL “HUSKY PUPS”
If you have a child who will become three years old during the 2016 – 2017 school year and you would like to enroll
him/her in our program, please let us know. There are a few limited spots available in this tuition based program. For
additional information, please call the Office of Student Services at 973-267-6398, x.112.
LOST AND FOUND
Kindly ask your child to check the “lost and found” containers in both schools for any items that they might have lost
during year. All unclaimed clothing items will be donated to a local charity. Unclaimed lunch boxes, athletic items,
school bags, accessories, used supplies, etc. will be discarded. Thank you!
HARDING TOWNSHIP RECREATION ASSOCIATION
NEW! Girls Basketball and Lacrosse Summer Camps! Registration is now open for two new girl’s summer
camps. The basketball camp will run from June 20th to June 24. The lacrosse camp will run from August 1st to
August 5th. Both camps are open for girls currently in grades 3 through 8.
Summer Camp: Registration is now open for grades pre-k to 6. Campers and CITs can now register online.
Fall Field Hockey Clinic: Registration is open for grades 3 & 4. The clinic will run from September 11th -October 30th.

HELP OUR MILITARY OVERSEAS
Brian Kraska, an eleventh grade student at Madison High School, is working toward his Eagle Scout award by donating
items to our soldiers overseas through the American Recreational Military Services or A.R.M.S. Harding residents can
help this very worthy Eagle Scout project by donating various everyday items. There is a donation box (with a poster
about the Eagle Scout project) in both the middle school and elementary school. The boxes are obvious right as you walk
in to each building. The poster has a list of specific items needed. Items include things such as Chapstick, shaving
cream, heavy duty socks, gums or mints, deodorant, insect repellent, ground coffee, eye moisture drops, etc. The boxes
will be at the school through June 10th. Thank you in advance for your help!!

KEMMERER LIBRARY
LIBRARY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
The Library's perennial and shrub borders are beginning to look quite weedy, so we are hoping to entice a few stalwart
residents to give a hand doing a little outside spring cleaning and mulching. If we can get together a team, the project
should take no longer than a couple of hours. Please let us know if you can join us on Wednesday, June 1 at 10 a.m.
(rain date June 2, same time) for this project (973-267-2665.) Refreshments will be served!
DIGITIZE YOUR MEMORIES!
Rescue your old photos, slides, 8 mm films, or VHS tapes by having them professionally converted to digital format on
CD or DVD. It's easy and allows you to preserve cherished mementos and share them with friends and family
everywhere. The Friends of Kemmerer Library have teamed up with Digital Memory Media (DMM) to offer digital
conversion to Harding Township residents. You are cordially invited to an information session at the Library on:
Thursday, June 9, 7:00-9:00 p.m. A representative from DMM will be on site to discuss the process and will be accepting
your materials. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Library. Please register for the program at

THE HARDING LAND TRUST
CAMP OUT 2016
We welcome all Harding children from the age of 6 to 12 years old and a parent to Camp Out with us at Primrose Farm
(15 Brook Drive South) under the Big Tree in Harding. Leave your phone, boom-box, electric toothbrush and large
screen TV at home. On this Camp Out we will listen to the music of the insects, enjoy the taste of a fire-pit meal and
watch a cosmic light show.
Date: Saturday, June 4, 2016
Time: 4PM Saturday to breakfast on Sunday
Activities: Scavenger hunt, wiffle ball, roasting s'mores, flashlight tag, owl calling and more.
What you need: A tent, sleeping bag, a change of clothes, flashlight, 1 gallon of water per person, mud boots and bug
repellent. We will provide dinner, breakfast and entertainment.
Fee: $10 per child and $15 per adult.

Members of our school community are welcome to send classified ads for publication in our weekly news bulletin. Ads must be
emailed by Wednesday at 4:00 pm to ehoward@hardingtwp.org to be included in the Friday edition and must be ready to cut and
paste. Ads will be run for three weeks only and commercial ads or graphics will not be accepted. At the end of three weeks if you
would like the ad to appear again, you must resubmit the information. Ads may be omitted due to space limitations and will be run
