There are a number of applications that make up ChiroSUITE, following this guide will help you completely remove all components & get them installed again! These are my strongly recommended steps & although you may be some kinda computer ninja in your own right, I find that’s when the biggest mistakes tend to get made. Feel free to question any suggestions or processes I have, but if you aren’t following along, expect varying results. As always, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please do not hesitate to pass them along. We are always looking for ways to improve ChiroSUITE and the support we provide. We need both your positive comments & constructive criticism to do so. Brock W Denys President, Sunbaked Software Inc. The great thing about a PDF is that you can read through it, open it over and over again, search it, and generally get all the information you need without ever printing it out on paper. Do what you can to help the environment! ChiroSUITE KB – Reinstalling ChiroSUITE Page 2 of 13 The Preamble In order to complete this process you are going to need Administrative rights on the computer, be able to reboot the machine multiple times (so close all your programs now & make sure nobody is accessing anything on this computer), and generally be able to work your way around. I am going to assume you can adjust for a version of Windows other than Windows 7 Professional (which is what I’m using for this example & all my screenshots). Although a good knowledge of your computer & Windows is an asset, it isn’t a requirement. You may need to research how to perform certain functions that I ask you to perform, but won’t go into detail in this document – many of these are available through the ChiroSUITE Knowledgebase ( kb.chirosuite.ca ) I am assuming you have your shared ChiroSUITE folder setup as your S: drive (about 99% of the clinics) but if not then please just substitute in your drive letter where you need to. I am also assuming you are showing file extensions in Windows, if not then you may need to ignore everything after the “.” in my examples. Lastly, you will need to know your ChiroSUITE logon email & password in order to complete the install. If you are unsure what the password is, you can receive it via email by requesting a Lost Password from the chirosuite.ca site. Know What Version You’re Running & What the Current Release Is Since we will be running all the latest files, you need to make sure you are already on the most current release. Please check the kb site to see what version is currently released & check the top toolbar in ChiroSUITE to make sure they are the same. If they are not the same then there are a few combinations of how to proceed - my advice is to contact technical support & ask what the best approach will be, there are just too many combinations to list here! Machine Maintenance Before We Start As, in theory, we are going through this process to correct something, we are going to walk through a few additional steps just to make sure we reach that end goal! 1. Perform a checkdisk on the machine. If you are running Windows 8/8.1 then you won’t be required to reboot your machine to do this, but please reboot your machine after anyway. 2. Clear your User Temp folder & clear your Windows Temp folder. (there is software such as CCleaner to help with this kind of thing on a regular basis if you need or unsure how to perform this step). After, right click on your Recycle Bin to “Empty Recycle Bin” 3. Run all Windows updates, this may require several reboots & several returns to the Windows update process to get them all. 4. Run all of your other updates as well – I typically see Java, Adobe, etc. 5. If you are running Windows 8, please get upgraded to Windows 8.1 – this is a very lengthy process (in the 6-8 hour range) to download the huge update & then go through 3-4 additional huge Windows updates after that. **DO NOT DO THIS UPDATE IF YOU ARE RUNNING V5 AND THIS COMPUTER HOLDS THE DATA** We do still want you to do this update, but we need to coordinate the process with you as that upgrade mucks up the data engine! 6. Reboot one last time. ©2015, Sunbaked Software Inc. · All rights reserved · v5.15.0422 ChiroSUITE KB – Reinstalling ChiroSUITE Page 3 of 13 So, this should give us an excellent start point, all your software is completely updated, the machine drive has recently been checked & repaired, and the machine has just been restarted! Download ALL Current ChiroSUITE Software We release version updates but also updates to the install process from time to time. Unless you have recently downloaded these files, I recommend downloading them again. You ONLY need the ChiroSUITE Install & the latest ChiroSUITE Update files, not any of the other ones for our purposes here. Download the files on one machine & place them in your common ChiroSUITE directory – typically the S: drive, and then in the Installs folder. If files already exist there, overwrite them, this will make it easier if we need to run the process multiple times or are doing multiple machines. You can find the installs & updates by going to kb.chirosuite.ca, clicking the [Downloads] button on the right hand side, reading through to find the “you can find the latest installation files here” link, and then choosing both the “ChiroSUITE v5 Install” & the “ChiroSUITE v5 Update ONLY” – there is only 1 version of each file but we provide links under Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10 just to make it easier for users (screenshot below). In our example we will be running this process for v5.15.0404, but you should be running this for whatever the most recent release is! ©2015, Sunbaked Software Inc. · All rights reserved · v5.15.0422 ChiroSUITE KB – Reinstalling ChiroSUITE Page 4 of 13 Uninstalling ALL ChiroSUITE Software There are a number of files that make up or are used by ChiroSUITE – to perform a complete uninstall we will be removing all of these whether they need to be or not! Open Programs and Features from within the Control Panel, depending on how much software you have installed, this list could be quite long! You want to uninstall all of the items listed below, were multiples may exist we will indicate so & you can adjust your list accordingly. You should be able to complete all uninstalls without rebooting the computer but if you are prompted to do so in the middle, I would follow their recommendations and do so – it will make for a longer process but we won’t have any other issues to deal with. Programs to uninstall (in this order, if something fails then stop, don’t move on to the next uninstall): 1. ChiroSUITE 5 2. Microsoft Office Access 2003 Runtime 3. MSXML 4.0 SP2 – this may have multiple files with KB#s or “Parser and SDK” after. Uninstall all of these, but make sure it starts with “MSXML 4.0 SP2” – as a caution, there is an SP3 & SP4 that we do NOT want to remove. 4. Total Access Memo 2007 Runtime – this uninstall will prompt whether you want to remove installed shared components, as we are replacing them shortly, I always answer “Yes to All” ©2015, Sunbaked Software Inc. · All rights reserved · v5.15.0422 ChiroSUITE KB – Reinstalling ChiroSUITE Page 5 of 13 After you get everything uninstalled, please reboot your machine again (one of the installs requires it to release uninstall files). Once you are back at your Windows Desktop, I like to make sure that any remaining files are also removed. The only folder you need to worry about is the “ChiroSUITE 5” folder. Open your C:\ProgramData folder (by default, Windows hides this folder, so if you don’t see it, click up in the address bar & manually type it). Highlight the “ChiroSUITE 5” folder and delete it. The Install Process Having followed through all the previous steps, we should now have a clean canvas to work with. I will sometimes go through & flush out temp folders again, check for Windows updates again, and things like that – but it is not necessary. ©2015, Sunbaked Software Inc. · All rights reserved · v5.15.0422 ChiroSUITE KB – Reinstalling ChiroSUITE Page 6 of 13 Open your S:\Installs folder. As we have sometimes run into issues, I always right-click the ChiroSUITE5.exe file & “Run as administrator”. Accept all the defaults when running through the install process, if you need to vary something then please do but keep in mind that may be part of your issue. ©2015, Sunbaked Software Inc. · All rights reserved · v5.15.0422 ChiroSUITE KB – Reinstalling ChiroSUITE Page 7 of 13 After the installation is complete you need to run the additional programs – the easiest way to do this is navigate to the ChiroSUITE 5 folder under your Start Menu & right-click on the “Xtra Installs (run once only)” shortcut and “Run as administrator”. You will be prompted for security (most likely) and then walk through a series of installs. Accept all the defaults as you walk through these installs. Since we just uninstalled everything, it should be a quick install BUT you may run into 1 issue during the install, see that issue below, anything else & you should stop your process and contact technical support! ©2015, Sunbaked Software Inc. · All rights reserved · v5.15.0422 ChiroSUITE KB – Reinstalling ChiroSUITE Page 8 of 13 If you are reinstalling your server /main machine, we did not uninstall the program (SQL Server) so when you install, the different version installed with that product will be newer than the Native Client we are trying to install with ChiroSUITE. Click [OK] and accept that this one issue is just part of the process. Running the Most Current ChiroSUITE Update BEFORE running ChiroSUITE we will also want to run the most current update. If we have followed through the steps above, you should be able to find that update in your S:\Installs folder. In our example here we are updating using ChiroSUITEv5.15.0404.exe, but if you have a newer update, please use that! Dbl-click the appropriate file to run the update & accept all defaults – in some cases you may need to “Run as administrator”, but this is a very rare occurrence for the update. One thing to note is that we digitally sign all files we release, so you can count on seeing our digital signature at all times to ensure the file you have is the file we released! ©2015, Sunbaked Software Inc. · All rights reserved · v5.15.0422 ChiroSUITE KB – Reinstalling ChiroSUITE Page 9 of 13 The only issue that occurs with updating is when you accidentally have ChiroSUITE open at the same time. As indicated in the update information, you will receive Update Specific Steps Sometimes it will be necessary to release additional “Update Specific Steps”. We typically recommend if you are only updating (not completely reinstalling as outlined in this guide) that you use the “ChiroSUITE Updater” instead, the updater will automate these additional steps. You can get to the updater through Start -> All Programs -> ChiroSUITE 5 -> ChiroSUITE Updater ©2015, Sunbaked Software Inc. · All rights reserved · v5.15.0422 ChiroSUITE KB – Reinstalling ChiroSUITE Page 10 of 13 It will run the following application, simply step through the whole process, accepting all the defaults to get completely updated. Again, it is sometimes necessary to right-click and “Run as administrator”. ©2015, Sunbaked Software Inc. · All rights reserved · v5.15.0422 ChiroSUITE KB – Reinstalling ChiroSUITE Page 11 of 13 The following Update Specific Steps currently exist: Updating From v5.14.0112 When updating from v5.14.0112 we require that you run the C:\ProgramData\ChiroSUITE 5\RegiTextSharp.bat file and that you right-click to “Run as administrator”. ©2015, Sunbaked Software Inc. · All rights reserved · v5.15.0422 ChiroSUITE KB – Reinstalling ChiroSUITE Page 12 of 13 This will result in 1 of 2 results – success or failure. If successful the window will look something like this. If the process fails, you’ll receive a message something like this. The actual text may slightly vary in the success or failure windows but should be similar enough for you to discern. ©2015, Sunbaked Software Inc. · All rights reserved · v5.15.0422 ChiroSUITE KB – Reinstalling ChiroSUITE Page 13 of 13 If the process fails, the ChiroSUITE 5 folder also contains a file for this. You’ll want to run the following file: C:\ProgramData\ChiroSUITE 5\dotNetFx40_Client_x86_x64.exe Follow through all the prompts & once complete, please run the RegiTextSharp.bat file again ©2015, Sunbaked Software Inc. · All rights reserved · v5.15.0422
